Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 19

In terms of personnel for tomorrow vs what we had in round 9 (I know some find this irrelevant but I like the comparison), we have changed a lot...

OUT:  Weideman, Pedersen, Jones, Vince, Wagner, Kent, & Bugg

IN:   Hogan, Gawn, ANB, Harmes, Melksham, Trengove & JKH

Also the rampaging TMac is now up forward.

I was nervous about this game a few days ago but I feel bad about that.  We've come along way this year and this is the sort of game we are winning now.  We've got our forward line back and playing well, our midfield is almost back to full strength and our backline has been terrific.

If we play the style of footy we played last weekend and played during our great run of wins then we should have no problem accounting for this mob.   They are out of the finals race and have nothing to play for.

I.m guessing you are in no way alone given our Norf history. But that said we are a different team including the one we fielded 10 weeks ago against them. Yes it's their home ground but aside from the history this is a top 4 side against a bottom 4 side.

going to be very scrappy. I know this brings North back into the game somewhat but our guys are up for a scrap.

I think the difference in top eight vs cellar dwelling teams is the ability to scrap for longer.

Given what is on the line for both teams I can see (hope) North running out of fight given they have nothing to play for.

I do however given their week under "tanking" microscope think that they will come out hard . We need to match them early and I think as mentioned they should (hopefully)drop off

14 degrees, rain and winds up to 40 km/h in Hobart tomorrow.

This will unfortunately even up the game and its gonna be a slog.

Yes it is likely to be windy, but it always is, but i doubt it will be very wet with the game starting at 1:40pm if the current forecast (which says rain 'at times', though only 1-3 mm, likely in afternoon and evening) is correct:

Saturday 29 July

Summary
rain.png
Min 3
Max 14
Rain at times.
Possible rainfall: 1 to 3 mm
Chance of any rain: 70% rain_70.gif

Hobart area

Cloudy. High (70%) chance of rain, most likely in the afternoon and evening. Winds north to northwesterly 25 to 40 km/h.

Wouldnt a bit of rain help us? They would gain strength through the midfield but we are also tough in here and could easily match them. It's Preuss, Brown and Waite who i think we struggle with the most and rumours of gawn potentially being a late out are still circling. The rain makes its that much harder for the big guys but Hogan seams to do pretty well rain, hail or shine.

You are probably right but i hate wet games.

Though we have struggled in the this year to modify our handball happy game style

Pretty certain north will look to put us off our game with niggling early on hoping that it will result in us losing our cool and retaliating. Need to be composed and clinical with this mob as we did against the Blues in our second encounter.

A good friend of mine is a big North fan, so I've had the opportunity to see a few of their games this year. I think the key to a win is to shut down Ben Brown. He has been unbelievable this year and is their main avenue to goal. Hopefully a bit of wet weather plays a role in this.

Hopefully we see a big game from Jeffy. I can't recall him having many big days against North over his career, even while he was at Carlton. Our last couple of encounters with North have finished with us down by the couple of goals that he would usually kick.

EDIT: Just the seven goals from Jeffy against North in six encounters.

Did you think of that all by yourself?

Sorry, was trying to make my contribution simple to understand, I have realised I need to do this in here

It's not brain surgery this game, games we have lost is where this hasn't occurred

Also kept it succint instead of four or five paragraphs to say the same thing

You both felt the need to again read and respond I see, bit sad really, you don't realise how wounded it leaves me feeling NOT??????

I am predicting a 6 to 10 point win to the Dees

Again, their danger player is Higgins!

Bernie took care of him last time.

No Bernie this time.  No Bugg either.  I think in this game we will miss both of those outs.

Others need to shadow Higgins and neutralise Cunnington and Zeibell in some way.  Hopefully, our midfield can be first at the ball and stop those guys doing any damage.

I think Ziebell, Tarrant and Preuss are very big ins for North who played well last week.

In Tassie, us without Jones and Vince, them with belief they always beat us.

I tipped North.  It will be a great win if we can manage it.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
