Gday fellow dees! A few of us are heading up to Manuka for the big clash in 2 weeks... I can get seats in the hill stand, which seems to be on the flank... the other choice is behind the goals. Re behind the goals, which side will the dees be sitting? Any other recommendations?

The game is in Canberra?

I assumed it was at Spotless stadium.  Now very confident we will roll them.

Have the same question as am also planning to head up.  Is there any standing area at Manuka, as I'd prefer to stand at that venue.

In case you need to make a quick getaway?

From memory the Demons Cheer Squad are usually at the Northern end of the ground. The Hill Stand usually results in some pretty bad sun glare later in the day (at least you'll be in the sun)...that's where my mob are sitting though.

nope, just because it will be bloody freezing and I can jump up and down on the spot as the Dees slaughter the hapless Giants....

Wherever you sit make sure you get some food before you go into the ground.  The last time we were there the selection only included Nachos, icecream and lollies in a cellophane packet.  Not a pie or chip to be seen.

Let's see if we can make it a "Melbourne Home Game."

Given the GWS following this is not a real hard ask crowd wise.

It's 1:45 pm Saturday ... so it's a nice drive to say Albury on Friday night and then 2:5 hours roughly to the ground on Saturday morning.

As the ground is in a residential area there is not that much parking but it is easy to park in the streets say 1km away and walk.

Being a frequent visitor to Canberra it really is a nice place if there is some winter sunshine. Stay the night if you can.

The museums (that we all pay for) are second to none and well repay a visit. My favourite after the War Memorial is Old Parliament House. Go and sit in the old cabinet room and enjoy the PM's office set up as it was in the days of Whitlam and Fraser.

Hi all, I own a travel agency here in Canberra and am happy to arrange "cost price" accommodation and transport for any Dee supporters making the trip.   Be good to have a Demon presence here.   Just PM me.

Note: it will be cold!!!!

I believe this qualifies as a 'major event" and so the parking limits are relaxed in surrounding areas:

Also I see from the Manuka website that the GWS academy team will be playing a curtain raiser, so here's your chance to see all the talent that GWS will snap up.  Don't know whom they are playing, I don't understand the Academy but the NEAFL website seems to have them playing the Canberra Demons at Wagga Wagga at that time.  Anyone know what's what?

Hopefully Toby Greene gets a 2 week holiday from the MRP.

I think there is a better chance of you getting slim, Fat than for Greene to get 2 weeks. Mind you, now that Lethlean is not there to Leth-lean on the MRP, perhaps we will see justice in this case and a lengthy penalty for Greene.

He will get one week....which automatically becomes two weeks because of his existing record thus far this year.  He will not play against us.

I think the side playing the at Wagga are just plain old 'Giants Reserves' sue. The academy team will be U18s, no idea who they'll be playing though.

Will be 2 weeks with 1 week added for bad record, making 3 weeks. Will then be offered 2 weeks for a guilty plea

same as vince. effectively a 1 + 1

Indeed.  But Coniglio will be back this week and Deledio will be looked at for our match after a further game in the NEAFL this week (I'd think).  And Cameron will return this week as well.

...and then downgraded to 1 as they are due to play us.

What is the betting it will be deemed accidental, low. contact, low impact?

And Rance's sneaky jab to Stevie J's guts - low impact, low contact, no case to answer.

My son and I are heading down from Sydney. I booked tickets through the members option on the MFC website and we are in the Hills Stand section 2.

For a side on top of the ladder, even 3/6 is bad.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
