Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Such a mature mature performance for such a inexperienced side (games wise) - leadership was shown by each and all. And... I think I may start to give Melksham the benefit - clutch.

Not having seen any of the game, can somone advise the style that seemed to put the scoring in lock down for quite a few minutes ?. What went on there?.

Percentage or not, there's no underestimating how important that win was for us. I just did another ladder predictor with our win today and wins against North, St. Kilda and Collingwood, I have us finishing the season in that coveted 4th spot. We have it all ahead of us now!

Does that mean we play Adelaide in Adelaide?....our fav ground!

Was absolutely dominant in the 1st half. Playing as well as his best games last year. Had an injury worry which slowed him down just before half time.

That's good to hear then. Hopefully it's just a niggle which he'll be right for next week.

No.. we fell over the line... as did Adelaide last night

Great win and another road trip this week down to Hobart .... let's hope we can put North away with something approaching ease... Took a long time for the Bombers to get on top of them today

My take was the structure, there were period throughout the game where there was no score for 8-13 minutes (3 times I think) we were so strong at the back and cut off any potential 45 kicks - locked it in in our forward line at times (although I felt the entries were kick and hope) - so both forward mid and back pressure. Lesser light players such as Harmes, Hannan, tackled, smothered - it was great - particularly as Port had a lot of drive in the 3rd and 4th.

Just quietly - has Hogan's output stopped people doubting him yet (or worst case, wanting him traded)?

Spot on SWYL. And add returning players who'll be better for the run and it's a great result.

port fought back, they are far from a poor side.

Blaming The Darwin trip is rubbish always has been. Good sides win and poor ones don't.

Im sorry old but whilst the old chestnut good side et al has resonance  there is without a doubt a taxing toll upon us after Darwin. That we won is testament to how much better we coped, not that it didnt occur !!

We put Lewis behind the ball.  Max was breaking even in the ruck and just dropping it down to his feet.  Plenty of numbers around the ball.  Lots of tackling, some great individual defensive efforts (Jetta, Lewis) and some grit and determination.

I only saw the second half, looking forward to seeing the first half.

We outlasted them in the end which given the return trip after Darwin is a fantastic effort.

Concerned about Maxxy, I don't know if it's just fitness or what but around the ground in (from what I saw) he was ineffective. Rucking at least seemed better though.

Oliver looking sore after the siren isn't good either, hopefully it's just cramp or a corkey.

Very important win.

His first half around the ground was awesome before he became sore

You have never been up North for any length of time, it is so obvious.

BOTH Adelaide and Melbourne ran out of gas in the last Q

We got the 4 points great. But i will NEVER think it is a good idea to sell home games...

Such an important win. Lose and we were out of the 8,  as low as 10th. We are now in the frame for top 4.

Melksham 6 goals in two weeks and two months of solid footy, very nice.

Great paragraph from the AFL webiste:

After kicking 3.1 in a loss to Adelaide last week, Melbourne's Jake Melksham has three goals for the second time this year. He has kicked at least one major for seven straight weeks, after going goalless in his first seven.

It's improvement like that at this time of the season that could take us a long way

Dear me ...

Why do they keep doing that to us?

From a 44 point lead to almost a heart stopper ...

But our effort all year hasn't changed, regardless of playing personnel available.

I thought Port may make it tight, but I had faith that the boys would not lower their effort levels.

It's really nice to finally have that confidence.

But if I may indulge myself, I'm not sure I have ever seen a more insipid milestone game than the one from Jack Watts today.

1 arm marks, 1 arm tackles. Simply pathetic, and I hope he is embarrassed by his effort.

It'll be that Port haven't beaten a top 8 side while they were in the 8, and shouldnt be top 4

If we can start like that more often we'll be a hard team to beat. With the Darwin game last week and 4 players coming straight back in from injury, we were always going to tire as the game went on.

That last qtr stand showed some real maturity and composure to nullify Ports run.

Poor old Wattsy had a mare for his 150th.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
