Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Anyone else see footage of Viney training yesterday?  Looked far from convincing that he will play

He was definitely favoring his sore foot in those run throughs.

Perhaps that last bit of discomfort will go away in the 48 hours between training and game time.

I've been to five VFL games this year and he has not exactly stood out at any of them. To expect him to suddenly do better at AFL level is wishful thinking at its best.

He has got a game after just about the whole list has been tried in the seniors.

Good luck to him but I'm not expecting much. He is likely the first to be dropped when Vince and Jones return. Love Jack but that is the reality of modern day football.

I'd like to think (dream) that playing with better players around him than he plays with at VFL level will enhance his game.

Those old enough to remember Robert Flower will recall that he starred playing with Melbourne - but went up a level or two when playing for Victoria.

The wife and I have palmed the kids off onto their favourite PANK (Professional Aunt, No Kids) and are flying down today for this one. Any other 'landers attending the Interstate Members function pre-game tomorrow?

I went to one a few years ago at the Duke...had a rollicking good time until the footy started and Geelong gave us a touch up on grey Melbourne day. Hoping for a much better outcome this time.

Why do I have this feeling that BBO is now on the lookout for a Semi-Professional Aunt, No Kids?

Goal sneak ready to go for Demons

Goody: "It's a big day for our footy club from an indigenous perspective. It's the first time we'll wear our indigenous jumper at the MCG, so for Jeff to be a part of that is just terrific."

Jeffy confirmed, in, brilliant.

The forward line looks amazing on paper... Hogan, Watts, Garlett, Petracca, T Mac...  lord have mercy.

Hell Bent, I was at training yesterday and you are correct with your assessment.  However, Viney has said all along that if he played this week it would be with discomfort.  I expect that the pain killers will be wheeled out tomorrow and they probably weren't present yesterday (or not to the same degree).  Maybe Webber can opine further.  In any event, this is not a situation where he can do further damage - it's about Jack and the fitness staff believing he can achieve what he needs to in terms of agility, power and pace.  The discomfort piece can and will be managed, not the least bit by Jack's enormous mental strength and determination.

Hey folks.

wondering if anyone can help.

we're down from northern nsw for the game this week and looking for recommendations on the best place to sit?

I'm a country member but the 3 others with me aren't. Its been ages since I've been to the G and have sat in different spots evertime (including the middle of the collingwood cheer squad one time - f u smart arse at ticketmaster ?).

My partner's first time at the G. would appreciate any recommendations.

Cheers

Hey Brownie, behind the goals at the Punt road end is a fun spot to sit, was electric the day Watts jailed the winner vs the pies...

I'm a fan of the top level of the Olympic stand, it gives you a good overview of the ground and is as close to the wing as you can get without MCC or AFL membership.

Interesting medical debate going on at present about pain management. Drug companies being looked at like the tobacco companies of old.

Wont be long until it comes into the sports arena.

The occasional jab is probably okay but when it comes to a player needing a weekly jab to get on the field perhaps we need to rethink it.

I imagine it will be a mix of taping and painkillers.  Properly taped (and with orthotics) the role of the fascia is replaced externally.  I imagine that limiting the ability of the foot to 'flex' in ways that would cause pain with taping would go a long way to helping.  Perhaps pain killers for the next week or so???

It is J. Viney - perhaps just give him a sniff of the Sherrin 5 minutes before the bounce?

Doc "Jack, have you been playing sore and not telling us?"

Viney "Nah, mate. Why do you ask?"

Doc "Because your leg fell off 20 mins into the 1st q"

Viney "Aww, it's alright. It will grow back"

Doc "No it won't"

Viney "It's OK. I ripped Ollies leg off in the 2nd and have it in my kit just in case. He seems to kick all right, so I can run out the game OK"

I watched footage of a couple of his run-throughs and couldn't determine which was the sore foot. Funny thing observer bias, you'll see a limp if you think there should be one. Try looking at the footage and see if you can name the dodgy foot. Either way, with an extra two days, expected levels of adrenaline, and the relatively conservative returns other players have had this year, I'm backing Jack and the rehab/fitness staff to have got it right.

I thought he was favouring one side, but i am a layman and it may just be his running style.

Biggest fear for me is Charlie Dixon getting hold of us.  Not too fussed about Gray, Nev will wear him like a glove when he goes forward.  Hopefully Viney runs though Wingard at the opening bounce.  Good player but man I can't stand him.

Dixon is a beast and could give our inexperienced tall defenders some really big headaches.  I wouldn't be surprised to see T-Mac head back early on tomorrow.

You mean Charlie Dixon is a spud who could enter the Kent Kingsley hall of fame and score 5 goals against the Dees?

Fair call I guess altho I would hope the Dees of 2017 are better than the teams of the last decade...

Kent Kingsley!  There's a name I haven't heard in a while.

I sat in the Dees cheer squad for Anzac eve and the atmosphere was fantastic, The kids loved it, Yo don't get much a view in overall terms but it's bloody exciting when a player streams towards goal and kicks it(assuming it's ours).

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
