Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not overly keen on these changes.

Smith in so early is a huge gamble, no direct replacements for Tyson and Viney.

Fingers crossed that Lewis and Vince get lots of time in the midfield.

Who from Casey did you think was equipped to replace Viney or Tyson ?

We've got plenty of players in the senior team that have spent years in the midfield, but have been pushed out of the top 5 or 6 core.  Players like Lewis, Vince, Melksham now get their chance and with Oliver, Petracca, Neal-Bullen, Hannan, Stretch, etc. it's not all doom and gloom.

One thing I like is our speed.

Hannan, Hunt, Garlett, Frost and Smith are lightening.  I reckon our pace can really worry Carlton.

The existing midfielders already in the side, currently playing on flanks, are better than any of the midfielders playing at Casey.

There was only JKH to throw in but yep we have more than enough talent and experience to cover our losses in the middle. In fact Bernie belongs there.

I disagree, as I don't think he brings much more than the others that are in there.  Someone like Harmes, for example, has more strings to his bow and can play multiple positions with confidence.  Not sure Trengove has that capacity, even if they have been trialling him off half back.  I feel for him, but understand the decision.

This is where we differ Wise I don't understand the decision.

We r two midfielders down and he plays the midfield. Harms from what I can remember hasn't played the midfield.

If he doesn't get a go then we will not know what he can do. Imo he at least needs to be given a go given his consistent form in the vfl

If trenners couldn't get a game this week with all our outs then that's it for him, I hope he gets a gig at another club next year as no one deserves some luck more than him and I would applaud him if he ever ran out against us

Was saying just a few weeks back, that with the general playing attributes of our forward starters, we basically had a set-up full of mediums.

Now with Watts and Bugg out, and Hannan and Petracca pushed up to the centre-line (with Harmes likely to run through the middle a bit more this week), replaced by a mix of Hogan, Pedo, Tmac and Kent starting forward with Garlett, we practically have no mediums up front but an arrangement of talls and smalls.

There's a great deal of inbuilt versatility there though, and I hope we use this to our advantage by rotating set-ups and tactics to unsettle the Blues' defence.

If in one moment you've got to contend with Hogan, Pedo, Tmac and Max drifting forward, and in the next, Tmac is floating off half back, Hogan is in the middle, and suddenly Petracca and Hannan are lurking around, it's going to keep you on your toes.

Not only is it a heap of our best players out with injury, but many are our leaders or main influencers. This is the reason I don't understand the omission of Trengove. I understand that his excellence at VFL level might not immediately transfer to AFL level footy, but his leadership and steadiness would havebeen invaluable. Disappointed for him.

Kent falls under demonland rule number 1.

  • If you are out of form then you are never going to get back into form.
  • If you were ever playing well in the past, the memory is now blurred and in hindsight you probably in fact were not in form.
  • Your not in the best 22. Therefore you are hopeless and we should trade you now for anything we can get.
  • Your strengths are not that good. Your weaknesses are terrible and you should resign.

Have we ever made those comments about any of our players ????? I can't recall it. Mind you I have a shocking memory.

Can't omit something not there in the first place...

If he was selected and you expected him to be a leader of a performing AFL team you are putting way too much pressure on a bloke trying to save (or restart) his career.

Just like the time before last time when we beat them.

Every game we play until Jones and Viney are back, that's a fair old chance.

Playing finals is touch and go, this game is massive for us, bigger than the Sydney game.

It's a bigger game than the Sydney one because we didn't beat Sydney.

I always thought he was recruited as a high flying forward like his father but your right I guess they can play him down back. Your thinking outside the box.

I'm pretty sure that he played across the half back line in the JLT and in the one game of AFL he played when he was injured.

If he has half a brain (not conclusively proven as yet) he will realise that he has been given chances before and it seems hasn't done what has been asked of him, and may not get too many more chances especially as some of our injured players return.  If and when we get a fully fit list there will be quite a few disappointed spectators amongst their ranks.

So hopefully he will run, run, run, tackle, tackle, tackle, and kick a bag of goals.

he is a dumb dumb.

"better to keep your mouth shut and look stupid than to open your mouth and confirm it"..

glimpses of his best are tantalising  and best 22 worthy fo shore.

Well this is very disappointing not to c Trenners in the side. Obviously his cards have been stamped and I for one cannot understand why we kept him on the list just for a reserves player.

Its pathetic. Two of our best midfielders are out and we have included NO midfielders as direct replacements.

Kent u beta pull a performance out of ur behind.

its because he is not good enough anymore. sad as. unfortunately he wont even get rookied next year by another club. he is slower than dodo internet connection speeds.

The tren dog *woof woof* was worth giving a stalwart another year building him up and seeing if he could come good to be a regular on the G in a dees jumper....

but it aint gonna happen... if we win sunday we will make finals

ya mum

I was tapping away thinking about this and that and the other thing, but in the end, it is all pretty simple.

Gibbs, Murphy, Kruezer, Cripps. Neutralise the stoppages where Carlton have their first-choice onballers available, and grind a win in the others, and we're well ahead.

That, and we'll need a defensive forward to never give Docherty space to so much as inhale deeply. Could be a valuable learning experience for one or both of Harmes or Hannan.

And of course, ferocious all-around-the-ground pressure and good communication. Kind of goes without saying but must always be said.

Huh?

Last week was a far bigger game in the lead up. It would've put us equal 4th, maybe even top 4, and a game ahead of the pack. Not only that, it would've put us 2 games ahead of Sydney.

Because that all didn't happen, now this week has become huge.  But it wouldn't have had the significance if we had got up last week.

Fair call, I suppose I answered my own statement by suggesting Lewis and Vince play in the middle more.

We look no chance vs Carlton from here in sunny Alberta. Just like last week.

If we can win it will be a tremendous result!

Not my favourite place in the world Jasper by any chance?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
