Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

End of conversation about Omac's place in the side and the last of the myths debunked.

I don't know what happened with this guy but I love it. I never thought ill of him even with his poor disposal at times. I always thought he was just young and still developing. Perhaps when he put on some mass he would be a good player. He has gone to a whole new level in just a few games. Hope hes with us for the next ten or so years.

Trengove clap clap clap Trengove clap clap clap Trengove clap clap clap..... you get the idea

#freejacktrengove

love the bloke. first year took a really non footballing female Lions supporter friend of my wife (and my non footballing wife) to the Dees lions game at th G in his first year. - He was Mr Everywhere - unbelievable game from a first year bloke. The girls only real football comment was who is that number 9 kid he's amazing! Surely he's something to give in a Sam Mitchell type centreman role especially while we're missing our A graders

Any word on the stand in skipper yet?

Trengove? He has some experience in being forced into captaincy inappropriately. ;)

Seriously though, will it be announced or will we find out when they come onto the ground? Can't remember the last time we've had a 3rd in line captain.

Hoping for a bench of Stretch, Trengove, Smith and then one of JKH/Kent.

I see no need for Weideman with Hogan returning and I think Wagner deserves to be dropped after last week's performance.

Smith to help off half-back allowing Lewis/Vince to move into the middle. Trengove to also provide half-back/midfield rotations. Stretch to get one more game (mainly because his running is elite and we looked tired last week) but if he doesn't pull his finger out he won't stay. Then either JKH or Kent depending on whether we need more forward (Kent) or midfield (JKH) rotations.

Dont think they will have Smith in with Hogan sneaking into the selection.

Why? Joel Smith would be in the back line, so there's no conflict.

Kennedy's disposal is either not damaging enough or he turns it over. Very difficult to fix. The rest of his game is fine you would think...

I have never been a fan, IMO he is too short. If you are short in AFL you have to be very good and he ain't good let alone very good.

I'm not coming into this game with thoughts x (our player) will smash y or anything like that. The blues have played some good games this year and deserve respect. We had a fairly close to full strength team the last time we played and it was far from a convincing win. In face Cripps was killing us before Lewis knocked him around, it cost him 3 weeks and cost us matches we should've won.

But having said that while our midfield is severely diminished, our defence has been improving and our forwards will welcome back two of our most prolific goal kickers. Gawn will be better after a couple of weeks match fitness as well.

I think we should play Vince in a shut down role on Cripps, and keep Lewis in the half back line. Those coming in are going to have to play like men possessed, and their no 1 mission (aside from good skills and such) should be to harass. That was the major difference between us and Sydney last week, they gave us zero opportunity to play our game because we had no time with the ball.

I'm one that is hoping to see Trenners given a chance this week. It really is the ideal opportunity for him, play him as an extractor in Tyson's role. Let's see what he's got.

What about Oliver head to head with Cripps and Vince to shut down Gibbs? Gibbs has been on fire this year and could tear us apart if we dont clamp him. We then collectively rough up marc Murphy so he goes into his shell a little. One player be it ANB, Trengove, Lewis or Petracca will have to have one of their biggest career games on Murphy. We should play tough but fair and scrap out the win with hunt and frost playing key defensive rebounding games.

Petracca, Lewis and Vince will need to play the whole game in the midfield if we are a chance to win this.

Huge week for our 2nd tier mids too - looking for Harmes, ANB and Stretch to step up.

Happy that we got Garlett and Hogan back. forward line looks dangerous.

Actually whole side looks solid enough given how many outs we have, but they key will be whether the midfield can find any cohesion given its such a different mix in there. Tyson not coming up is a shame, but as many have said the seasoned heads of the likes of Vince, Lewis, Melksham and even Hibbard to try and cover the void. It wouldn't surprise me to see Jake-Milkshake have his best game for us.

Jesse back should give the guys a real lift. Jesse and Trengove play and the boys will be up and about in a big way I would have thought.

Seems like the most important game of the season - snatch a win while so many are out injured and the belief amongst players and supporters will be incredible

I hope. I rate him, especially his penetrating, accurate kicks but he made a couple of really crucial errors last week when he fumbled the ball as we entering our forward line. Very costly both

I am confident the team named will give a good account of its self against Carlton. I say Dees by 3 goals.

Besides the 25 named in the extended team for Sunday it is great to note that missing from that lot are Jones, Viney, Tyson and Salem from possible mid-field rotations and Watts from the forward half. Throw in Brayshaw and VDB as long term injuries and I can see it will be interesting to see how our best 22 develops in the near future. going to be some tough calls made.

Next 1 or 2 rounds we should have back Tyson and Watts followed a couple of rounds later by Jones and Salem and then Viney in 4 to 6 rounds if all goes well.  If we  can bank that I will be happy.

Possible team for the last couple of rounds leading into the finals.

B: Michael Hibberd, Oscar McDonald, Neville Jetta

HB: Jordan Lewis, Sam Frost, Nathan  Jones

C: Jayden Hunt, Christian Petracca, Dom Tyson

HF: Christian Salem, Jack Watts, Mitch Hannan

F: Jeff Garlett, Jesse Hogan, Tom McDonald

Foll: Max Gawn, Clayton Oliver, Jack Viney

I/C Harmes, ANB, Pedersen/Melksham, Smith

Just thinking how great the emergence of Oscar McDOnald has been over the last month and a bit, so much so that it was allowed his brother to move into an entirely new role that he is excelling in.  Almost  a Blicavs type utility that floats around and is a constant danger for the opposition, though he does it much better than Blicavs and kicks way more goals.

T Mac becoming a versatile weapon has given us more options and more unpredictability. I wonder what role he will play on Sunday?   Maybe he can go head to head with Cripps, he has the size and nobody has a bigger tank than Tommy.

The melbournefc site may have let the final changs slip.... they've since taken down the video.  Great changes if true though.

Wow bit of a slip up there if true, I always wonder whether they already know the changes when making the squads and that usually it's minimal changes to the first thought.

Also a tad disappointing, though not surprising, if Trenners missed out.

I assumed it was an oversight because Trenners was an emergency last round - perhaps the digital team just messed up?

So he has an easy role, which has suited him, in a well structured side. Got it.

The Liam Jones I knew was a complete flop - was having a hard time reconciling this best (anything) in the comp talk.

League Teams threw up the stats of his last three opponents:

Tex - 13 disposals, 1 goal

J Riewoldt - 13 disposals 3 goals

Lynch - 10 disposals, 0 goals

There's a little bit of hyperbole surrounding Jones due to the Cinderella factor, main difference being Cinderella wasn't a part time rapper who went by the name of "L Jizz" (true story).

But even so, that's not bad going. Granted Lynch is badly out of form and Riewoldt got on the end of a couple.

FYI they actually said on the show Riewoldt kicked 2. Great research down at Fox HQ.

I don't mind league teams but last night without roosy it was really really bad, they all just waffled on about crap, at least roosy knows what he is talking about

I haven't seen Carlton play much lately. Has he actually been the best defender in the comp, or just the hyperbolic type "best in the comp" that people brand crud players with when they suddenly and unexpectedly become competent after a lot of years of duddery?

Of course he hasn't, but he's been very good at getting to the drop of the ball and then using his fwd thinking to out position the fwd to either knock it away or mark it.

L Jizz has a very small bonce.

Even Bugg would not be able to hit it.

Hogan will school him

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
