Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Drinking session

MELBOURNE ruled four players ineligible for AFL selection against Sydney on Friday night after breaking club rules by indulging in a drinking session last week.

The Herald Sun can reveal Jay Kennedy-Harris, Ben Kennedy, Dean Kent and Jake Spencer were all told they would not be picked against the Swans, despite the Demons’ mounting injury list.

Great time to do that with our injury list the way it is.

Especially disappointed in JKH who was on fire in the VFL and no doubt would have played vs Sydney. Also a nice way to repay the club for giving you a contract next year.

When it rains, it pours.

I still wonder if Olisik supports Melbourne.  Never seen him say something positive about the club, only ever rocks up to bring up something negative.  He must support Richmond.

I'm mostly disappointed in Spencer. Have him on our list for 7 years, when we really need him he comes off second best in a bump and is injured. Comes back for a week and goes drinking straight away. Pretty sure this incident will go a long way in list management at the end of the year.

Idiots.

Have done nothing all season and right when the side needs them they f' it up.

I liked Kent but in my opinion I'd be happy to see him leave now.

He is a lazy footballer. I watched him in the VFL last week. Lazy decision maker. He could be in better shape as well. I hope we cut him at years end. He does have talent but he doesn't work hard enough.

Fake news, what's a drinking session, couple of pots, wasn't that long ago standing around a barrel on Sunday was mandatory!

This beggars belief. The guys who can actually grab their opportunity when the club really needs them and they go bugger it up. Then Casey get smashed against Port today with (from my understanding) little impact from the players involved, who would surely be trying to make amends!?

Strong from the club, though. Indicates a real shift in culture and setting standards. Take the positive from the negative.

Definitely is truth behind it. No way would DJ get ahead of the pecking order of these guys.

True and before that players would smoke and earn 400 bucks a game. Its different now and some of these blokes make 1 million a year so if the club says dont drink then they have the right to ban them. We cant afford banned players with all our injuries. I know they want to let off steam but so do their other team mates. Its selfish.

This gives me enormous faith in the direction of the club.

Didnt use it as an excuse before, during or directly after the loss.

Gave those players a real whack when it would have been easier not too.

This will be the making of us as a footy club. Successful clubs act this way.

I'm extremely disappointed in all four of them.  They put themselves above the Club, the team and the supporters.  Selfish in the extreme, and its fantastic that our Club has made a strong stand.  I just hope they have enough sense to learn.

Certainly explains the selections (obviously)

If they were all able to be picked, maybe only 1 or 2 at best would have been you would think. Even if they might have made the difference between a win and a loss ( ummm, no) this says heaps about how the club is being run now.

No D'head policy writ large.

I heartily endorse this action. Well done MFC, boo to the 4 involved.

I like the fact that it took until after the weekend to come out.  We dealt with this in house.  We were firm on keeping standards even though it impacted the team at selection.  This is how it should have been done.  These four should be ashamed of themselves, and not only cost themselves a spot, but took our 'outs' from 8 to 12 for the game.  Incredible.

A drinking session, god forbid, they are mortals. Any rational on looker would observe that a wholesale approach to looking into habits is nessesary.

Max Gawn got caught smoking on the way to training. Hogan is on camera dancing at a music festival pulling moves impossible for someone straight/sober.

Hodge is the greatest leader in the modern era and has countless drinking indiscretions.

These guys don't like the work place policy then they can go get a a 9-5 job on jack all pay that let's them drink.

i would prefer professional Athletes representing the club.

Gawn got done for that years ago and was whacked by the club, which he acknowledges as the making of him.

Jesse was at home watching his father die as a 21 year old. If any of these 4 have that as an excuse then I will accept that as highly unusual and stressful circumstances.

Hodge got banned by his teammates for his last 2 indiscretions. So that tells you we handled this right.

If it was a ban for next week I'd be concerned, but for them individually it's moronic given the state of the list. They'll never get a better chance to break into the line up.

I hope you adhere to all your workplace policies.

Wayne Carey and Gary Ablett senior are the two greatest players I have seen in my lifetime. Both drank heavily and took recreational drugs.

I don't condone everything they have done but a few drinks shouldn't kill the career of the Melbourne boys as long as their wholesale approach is professional.

You know your arguments in trouble when you use Gary Ablett Snr as an example of behaviour.

Google Alisha Horan.

You're always pretty balanced WB, no matter Osi constant negative vibe not sure what he has done here, the players who got on the [censored] are the ones at fault.

What a bunch of sparrows, spots up for grabs, new contract signed, game won.

Obviosuly team rules were broken so they didn't get the chance to be selected and totally let the team down.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
