Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Are you suggesting that if he were to bash someone off the play he should expect the tribunal to be lenient towards him?

But seriously, really looking forward to seeing what he can deliver.

Mono, Mitch White is the sort of bloke you would LOVE your daughter to go out with!

Solid Citizen and really has worked hard to make it in the cut throat world of AFL!

Hard at it, skillful, neat left footer! I hope he does well!

No.

If one of the 22 cannot play tomorrow night due to an unforeseen issue, then one the emergencies will come in.

Encouragjng and potentially very meaningful.

I was an emergency in a GF once. Coach called me the morning of and said "are you coming today?" I said yes of course! He replied "bring your boots" played in my first GF win! Mystery virus hit one of the boys.

Do we think that the swans will target a melbourne player before the bounce like they have done the past 2 weeks? Last week they went after BJ which in hindsight seemed to work in the end because he had a shocker and obviously the previous week against the dogs they targeted JJ and it worked.

They would be stupid to go after Viney and his shoulder because he won't stand for it, Oliver maybe especially with his "so called staging" watts would have been an easy target but I do wonder if they will target someone.

Im a little surprised by the changes, but I trust Goodwin. Thought JKH would have come in for Salem.

Im  a little worried about Buddy tomorrow night. No goals last week so he will want a big one this week.

also I wish we had Jonsey back in the midfield becuase there midfield is pretty strong especially with JOnes and McVeigh back.

Tomorrow night is going to be interesting. Bring it on and gee I hope we win

I'm surprised that we've gone with White and Wagner and haven't picked any of JKH, Kennedy and Kent, but I've learnt over the last 8 weeks that the FD is making more good calls at selection than bad.

We need both White and Wagner to provide as much run off half-back as we can get, especially if we are going to throw Hunt forward (which I don't agree with but may be necessary for some speed and pressure when Sydney has the ball).

No we don't want it wet they play better in the wet. I was there last year at the SCG and it poured all-day and they played true wet weather football while we tried to play our play on at all cost game . We turned the ball over and gave them easy goals. SO NO RAIN PLEASE!!

Looks like no rain forecast for tomorrow night, phew.....(so it will probably pour)!

Spot on, Chook.  Our backline is also pretty settled as well which holds us in good stead.

I'm still worried about where the goals will come from, with both Watts and Garlett out we lose our two leading goal kickers for the year, but I have faith that we can hit the scoreboard with enough regularity to keep the pressure on.

You have already forgotten about Plugger MacDonald !!!

If I were Sydney I'd target Jayden Hunt.

And if not Jayden, I would go after Hibberd.  Hibbo sets up so many of our plays from defence.  I remember noticing in the Adelaide game how he peeled off his man and even ran away from the contest time and time again to be the free kicker once the ball was won in defence.  I know others commented on his low tackling stats - it's not that he can't but he's more valuable to be allowed to use his skills.  I'm not sure of the stats but it seems like no team has really tried to stop him do this so far.

I would think that if you were coaching against Melbourne it would be worth having a defensive forward mind him at all times / or try to use whoever his man is to make him more accountable.  The rest of the backline grows in confidence with the ball in hand knowing they can always go to him to get them out of a tight spot.

They'll go Oliver I reckon.

Our fortunes rise and fall more on his back than on Hunts. Also they have a bit of ammo from the events of the last few days. Having said that we know that neither of these kids will take a backward step and the Swans may find they have bitten off more than they can chew.

Can't see us winning this week. 5 of our best out, three 6 day breaks. Sydney midfield on fire.

Out forward line is poor and will be found out eventually.

Kent must have slept with Goody's mrs and sister. We really need his speed creativity and aggression up fwd

Waste of time - unlike Jason Johansen,   Hunt is tough as nails and he will give as good as he gets.

Agree completely, but it will still inhibit him. And as one of our most important players that will be a severe detriment to us. There are no softies in our team anymore, so what Sydney or any team have to do is to try and inhibit the most influential of our players...and Hunt is right up there.

The only other player I'm a little worried about getting tagged is Oliver, but his contested ball winning ability renders him pretty immune to a hard tag.

I notice we have some decent umpires for tomorrow, could get used to playing in the spotlight - Matt Stevic , Mc Inerney and Fisher

Not sure it has been mention here but a Bigfooty poster claims Kent, Kennedy & JKH all missed out due to club imposed bans, apparently failed to prepare appropriately following last weeks vfl win....

If true that's a good thing, we are clearly setting high standards and there will be no passengers, Kent really needs to pull his finger out or might find himself on the trade table

Given the week he's had you'd think if Sydney were going to target anyone it would be Oliver. I wouldn't expect Oliver to back down but it could just distract him a bit, and sometimes that's all you need.

They weren't named as emergencies either which would support this.

Not sure if I'm happy that the club is getting hard on the players or if I'm [censored] off that we don't have our best available team.

Or if true, I'd be annoyed with the players who didn't do what was expected especially with spots available.

Oh I'm not annoyed with the club in any way shape or form. My anger is at the players.

Probably should have said that I am both happy (club) and [censored] off (players).

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
