Not long got to the ground, took my seat and had a cheeky little sip of spiced rum out of my flask. A Weagles supporter turned around and told me I wasn't allowed to bring it in. I took another sip and stared at her before telling her she was ugly and she shouldn't have been allowed in. Hopefully I last the game.

Read out some of your poetry, she won't mess with you after that.

Without Watts and Jones, on a second 6 day break with West Coast having played in Perth last week (and on a 9 day break), and with Gawn playing his first game back, I can't avoid the sinking feeling we just aren't going to get up tonight.

This made me laugh, but for the future you really shouldn't speak to your mum like that.

I am tipping The Dees to win..... by 25 points

*dont actually think we will, but i am sure we can.... just that we wont.

You heard the result here first.

I admit I didn't have the courage to tip us this week, but I really do think we can win. Normally the outs of Watts, Hogan, and Jones would have the doomsday guys coming out in force saying 50+ point loss, it's a real credit to the coaching staff that we have developed some good coverage.

That said I won't be overly shocked if we hit a wall this week. We've had short turnarounds (while they've had a nice cushy 9 day break), a tough contest vs the Pies, and the short break to the fast track of Etihad.

Bottom line for me is I don't think we can have a slow start here, like all away games we need to hit the board early and get some confidence. Hitting the board early also takes the sting out of the local crowd.

I genuinely agonised about who to tip in this game, only went with WC because of the travel and 6 day break.

At the ground. Beautiful night.

Not going to lie watching our forwards line up for shots I wondered who will kick a score for us.

But - Its a bloody good feeling seeing big Maxy out there with Jack Viney. There's a distinctly ugly street fighter vibe about our midfield.

Go Dees. Get stuck in.

I have actually taken the tactic a few times this year to tip against us (even when I really think we've got a big chance) with the idea that at least if I'm wrong we win! I will be very very happy to get this tip wrong!

Garlett having a big night will be key for our chances.

Pressure the Meth Coke and they will fall like a deck of cards.

If we are contesting in the middle we will win.

Big test for Simon Goodwin ( he has had a few i know) Top 4 is up for grabs tonight.

Meanwhile I actually cannot remember the last time we were on FTA for one of our interstate games. It is such a weird feeling sitting down to watch a Melbourne game in a prime time slot.

Dead right. I just heard Adam Simpson say "We don't want to get caught in a turnover-turnover game. We want to stick to our brand of footy." Translation: We're soft and only like it on the outside. Please don't hurt us Jack Viney.

A good start is definitely needed here, the locals can get very noisy and umps are easily sucked in here for some reason. Shut them up and we go a long way to winning.

This "The Kick" show is so bad.

The only one of these types of shows that has ever worked is the one Channel 10 did with Hughesy. Was it called "After the Bounce" or something? That and the 5th Quarter were great footy viewing on a Saturday.

Spread the goals. Petracca 4, Jeffy 3, Pederson 2, Hannan 2, Bugg 2, Harmes 1, Gawn 1, Oliver 1, Hunt 1, Viney 1

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
