Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Have we ever won the free kick count in WA, I feel your pain!!!

2002 - we drew the free kick count 13 each when we won 106 vs 100

Found 1 game back in 1995 where we won free kicks 20-16 even though we lost 74 vs 90

Last year, after watching us narrowly lose in the West, my Dad (supporter since 64') threw the remote across the room and it shattered against the wall.

I understood the frustration. The expectation was building and he'd seen a glimpse of the team we could become. We dominated for large periods in the game but failed to capitalise on momentum. We lacked polish going forward, often failed to execute our skills, and McGovern and friends intercepted every promising thrust. The inside 50 count was in our favour, but our entries were continually swallowed up by a seasoned Eagles backline. It was a real blue balls performance.

This year we have better skills, better structure and better flexibility. I'm still going to hide the remote, but I've got a feeling it might survive this week.

Umpires will play a big role in this game, and it won't be in our favour.

Just going in prepared for a one sided umpiring display.

Maybe if we make a song and dance in the media beforehand they will wilt under the spotlight??

Heart is saying we get off to a good start before holding on for a narrow win but the Eeyores in my head are replaying the Elimination Final

Heart wins - Eagles by 7 points in a spiteful match

Oh and if this scares us, we deserve to lose

Footy journos of Australia, take note and---  footy journos? Oh footy journos ... where'd they go? ......... oh, they're all out the back chasing the next micro-scandal.

Seriously, that article is the kind of stuff people really want to read, not the gossip rag [censored] about who's screwing who.

Totally agree.

I would also love to see some proper post match ANALYSIS, not just a 500 word year 10 essay just saying what occurred (and then melbourne kicked a goal to win the game)

The following is a preview from a Bigfooty West Coast supporter.  Worth a read.

That's a seriously impressive preview.  He must watch a lot of footy, he has an understanding of our team that you rarely see from opposition supporters.

Imagine if the paid professionals were able to write analysis like that.

Goodwin's presser just finished. Confirmed Max & Pedo play (reward for good form). Trenners will not be playing but continued to improve. Watts needs to get through training today. (Source club Twitter)

I wouldn't be surprised if Watts is rested, in which case I imagine Pedersen would be moved forward with Gawn coming back in. Wagner could come into the back line and Salem moved to the midfield to help cover the loss of Jones.

We're a win now mode aren't we? Ie in finals contention, good teams rarely rest best players, they tend to play through if sore.

I think it will be up to how Watts pulls up as Goody said scan was clear.

Oh wow, man .... I'm imagining ... (background goes fuzzy and wobbles from side to side ......)

Imagine there's good writing
It's hard but you can try
No drunken yobs like Robbo
Or that Footy Show guy
Imagine all the reporters writing useful stuff

Imagine there's no gossip
It's really hard to do
Nothing just for sensation
And no door stopping too
Imagine all the journos canning facebook guff

Yoo-hoo, woo-woo-woo
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day they'll join us
And the world will be rid of scum

Heavy, man!

Unless they just swap jones for gawny, who is a pretty mobile big man. Also wc have a few bigs

I've been reading this. Not saying it's daft or lacks insight... I just really reckon going by West Coast performance last week, and going by what we've produced this year on the back of, basically, clearance and contested footy alone... leaving out jones and not trying to replace his numbers somehow, is exactly what West Coast will hope we'll do. But then are JKH and Stretch capable of replacing Jones? Is anyone?

I dunno. I feel like ANB will be given the Jones role. I've watched the Dogs game X times (I'm not telling how many), and right up until ANB disposes the footy, he looked awesome. Seemed to know where to be most of the time.

With that in mind, yeah. I guess Gawn in for Jones, ANB to midfield with tracca and others... and Pedo forward. Seems simple. I just really want to overwhelm them in the middle like we've done every game this year. I foresee a game just like the Pies game. Their midfield is still super. Now that Trenners is off the table, I sort of want to see Wagner in. Run 8 off the back of the square again. Cross your fingers and pray for disposal efficiency to hold up.

Big loss. Quite strange as his scans came back clear. Will need to work with physios then to get it right.

Titus O'Riley's take on the game A highly unhelpful guide to Round Fourteen

West Coast Eagles v Melbourne

I was disappointed to discover Melbourne aren’t premiers after last week’s win. It turns out there’s a thing called the top eight, then somethings called ‘finals’ and only after the finals do they award the premiership. I learn something new about football every single day.

Sad news for the Demons this week as Nathan Jones will be out 4-6 weeks with a bad quad strain. It’s an injury I’ve managed to avoid in my life by barely having quads.

Jones has been the heart and soul of the club for a long time now, in fact, he was for many seasons the only AFL player Melbourne had on the list.

His injury, coming after such a big win, is further proof the universe doesn’t want Melbourne fans to be happy.

West Coast has not lost to Melbourne since 2009. Now granted, a lot of that time the Dees would have struggled in the WAFL, but it’s still an impressive record.

Even worse than that is the fact the Dees haven’t won at Domain Stadium since 2004. How long ago is 2004? Well, Shannon Noll had a semblance of a career in 2004.

If this were in Melbourne, I’d be tipping the Dees, but I think winning over there is a stretch for them.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
