Watts had a limp after the game, he would also be doubtful particularly with a long flight ahead. The way he was walking didn't look like just a bit of tightness.

...so, I guess I'm not as sure that both will play.

My contention rjay is that if we were 5 points up rather than 50 both in my opinion wouldn't have been taken off and iced up. 

See how they settle over the week and trust the pros to make the right call I guess

I have it on good authority that the reason Trengove can't get a game is because goody was looking at demonland and saw that picket thinks he's slow.

The vision from late in the game of Watts and Jones sitting with iced wrapped on their legs, or walking with a slight limp, is very misleading. When the cameras go into the rooms after most games, players are limping around everywhere with ice all over them. It is standard procedure as first step in recovery after the game. 

Jones did look sore, but I reckon he will be on the flight. Watts is fine. If either is injured, on form JKH is a certainty.

If Goodwin goes with Gawn and there are no injuries, Vince comes out. For mine he was the only player who had little or no impact on the win.

The change that interests me is the change to game plan. It would appear that our no ruckman plan works, and having Gawn back gives us two distinct stoppage plans within the game plan. If our players can adapt this gives us a distinct advantage over other teams. 

Vince out - Gawn in no other changes barring injuries.

It would be desperately unlucky but for team balance I wonder if Harmes might be the one to go if Gawn comes in. On a wide expanse of Subiaco we need players who can run hard so I don't know that we can sacrifice a midfielder for him. 

Pederson moves into more of a forward/ruck role giving us a target and when Gawn's resting he's either on the bench or in the forward line. 

Harmes hadn't been bad, but then no one was bad yesterday. Anyone omitted should count themselves very unlucky.

No matter how well he's been playing in the 2's - the thought of JKH in is depressing especially after last week.

Its a little like fitting roof racks on your brand new Ferrari. Pointless, looks bad and reduces the overall performance....

Just a guess but I suspect Watts will be rested. He has had a very hard 8 weeks on a body that is not used to that stress.

Of course that then just pushes the real decision one week down the track when you also have Hogan returning that week or the next..

The candidates are: Harmes, Melksham, Bugg ANB and perhaps Frost or Oscar with Pedersen being played on a match up basis. None of them deserve dropping at this stage.

Longer term there may also need to be a decision made between Vince and Wagner

The Eagles are a different sort of team to both the Pies and Dogs, they don't have huge run out of their back line, Yeo's probably the only one, while they want to bang it longer to their forwards, so we might not need all of Bugg, Harmes and ANB. While I think even with Gawn back we need Pedo, TMac and OMac. So from a team balance point of view we might go a bit taller this week. 

Having said that, I've got no idea who'll come in or out, depends on Watts and Jones, but maybe even Vince out, and Harmes to play more out of the back flank? I thought at the start of the 6 day breaks we might look to rest Vince and Lewis during them, but Lewis came back in style on the weekend so maybe Vince has a rest.

Its a question of how badly do we need to win in WA and how badly do we need to manage the players with 3 x 6 day turn arounds in a row,   It's now a reality that we will probably play finals, so have to keep that in mind.

At the very end of the game I saw Harmes limp towards the bench with a lower leg injury and they just told him to wait on the ground and 5 seconds later the final siren blew.  So I think you can add him to the the possible injured list.  If he is out it gives either Kennedy of JKH a go.

I want to see Maynard have a run and if managing players injuries is the issue, it would be a good time for that to occur.  I don't want them to try him closer to finals - which means he would have to wait til next year.  If Jones doesn't pull up I'd replace him with Maynard.

I doubt they'll risk Max next week when he only has 6 days to recover for the following week in a tough match against the swans on Friday night.  Big men and long flights don't help recovery in a short week.

Without knowing the extent of soreness it's difficult, but in the last 2 weeks Watts has had ankle problems, back spasms and hamstrings.  He needs a rest, so its Spencer for Watts and Pedo plays Watts role.

Watts and Jones are two very resilient players who are in career best form.

If they are available I would prefer to rest Lewis or Vince for Hogan /Gawn.

JKH is knocking down the door for selection as well.Cant see it happening this week.

Makes sense to rest the older players if Jones and Watts are good to go.

Not sure how happy Lewis and Vince would be with this idea.

Stretch would be ideally suited to the big ground over there. Hope he gets a go but hard to know who to leave out - hard to see Jones getting up with a quad so may be rested.

Gawn's a given.  so he's an IN

We have to manage personnel over these weeks.

Jones and Watts  are now risky ventures...for the games(s) ahead . How much so ?

Chunk the more likely definite out for the week. So you need a very aerobic running mid to fill a spot..not fill Jones' spot as such necessarily just the mix of mids.. Its a big long ground. My first ( and only tbh ) thoughts went to Stretch.  Whilst JKH would feel stiff he's not an AFL level mid ( yet ..or ever ) He's fine around the fwd 50 in a fashion but he isnt imho a slot in mid; SS is.

If Max is in..who for ? Again. Max doesn't have to ruck all day.  He and Pedo can wax the fwd /ruck role.  Win Win and we can rest Jackie who more than deserves to be looked after.

This weeks list all but picks itself for  mine.  Next weeks....well.... 

and then somehow you start thinking that Watts and Hogan are coming back

I rather not risk Jones and Watts this week, when this is probably our least winnable game for the next 6 weeks! Not saying we can't or shouldn't win, but if they go over and their injury worsens and they end up missing 3-4 weeks, that would be a massive blow. 
I'd be conservative on both, and while Gawn is back, resting Watts for a week won't be as crucial. Pedo can play permanent forward, and maybe Tom can as well, especially if Kennedy isn't back.

They must think they're in some sort of circular, Kafka-esque world when they read Saty's posts then. Imagine the footy department following the advice of someone who says he won't provide any advice because the footy department already knows best.

Seriously. Saty - we need you reporting from training this week to tell us how Jones, Watts and Hunt look. If everyone is fit, I have no idea who comes in for Gawn other than to say it would nominally have to be a forward. That's because with Gawn playing, Pedersen plays key forward for most of the game which will push out one of Hannan, Harmes or ANB. Of that lot, I would suggest Hannan might be the unlucky player.

Gawn clearly comes in, although I rather he'd have played against the Dogs than the Eagles. 

Watts and Jones are clearly question marks. If both play, then Vince or Neal-Bullen to drop out.

Stretch is the only player at Casey who should be considered for senior selection, and his form seems to have been moderate at best. The rest have all been tried and failed on multiple occasions.

See I thought the FD scoured DL for what to do and then they do the opposite of what the majority on here think. That's why the FD costs have skyrocketed - compensation for having to read so much negativity each week!

I think people are very seriously under-estimating the effects of 3 consecutive 6 day breaks with a trip to WA in the middle.

I think we should be doing some very serious list rotation this week and next week.

I addition to Max, the players at Casey who could be considered to play:

Trengove, Gawn, Stretch, Kent, JKH, Weideman, Spencer, Kennedy, White, Wagner

I'd consider playing at least 5 of those 10 players over the next 2 weeks and giving at least 5 current 22 players a week's break.
