Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes but our only currency at the moment is a first round next year, as much as they might want him out, they won't risk getting a pick 15+ when they are going to get pick 5 or below

Hogan not working hard and Lever has a hiccup and the deal for our first pick next year could be a reasonable single figure anyway, There will be a whole lot more pressure on this group next year than this year, and it's about expectation in all big games and being sussed out.....

Or leaves you with absolutely nothing. (See Fremantle forward line 2019)

We have TMc, Weide, & Hogan... & have lost nothing, so far this year.

We payed Royally in Levers Case last year, with Lever only a couple of years in the system... and following an ACL reconstruction__  Our remaining 2019 picks are still intact.

We got a player we wanted...  but we sent out the message to the competition, aloud & clear...we can be bent over a barrel, without much of a struggle.

In Hogan's case, a power forward who tallies up goals, and can go into the Midfield as well...  1.5 first Rnd picks,  is too Low.

Our message last year, was perceived by sleasy Freo, and by Bell, as soft... and so Bell, you could say,  responds this way  >>>

... come spend a little, on me, (Freo)_

Watch out Josh Mahoney and Todd Viney, there's a a new Dingaling in town! And he knows what's best for our list....

Which presumes that the football department is correct EVERY SINGLE TIME. The football department doesn't get it right every time. With that in mind of course posters should question them. I would be surprised if Mahoney and Viney didn't question each other. You seem to be the only one who doesn't understand this. Pretty basic stuff. Not rocket science.

i'd love to get May into the club! im sick of oscar mcdonald. yes, he has improved but he is still a poor defender. Whenever he gets beaten, oscar lovers blame the midfield. its time to bring in defenders that can defend when out of position. No excuses. May, Lever, Hibberd and Jetta. Thats a great 4.

We need a strong one on one defender, which we currently don’t have.

Both Oscar and Frost are both second or third tall defenders

The main indicator to me of the Jesse deal being done,  is that we have said we are doing it to get May and May does not seem to be panicking and talking to other clubs as a fall back position.

If May is comfortable with what is happening, it’s because we have probably told him the deal will be done and to just hang in there.

That suggests to me that Jesse will not be a Demon Wednesday night and May and KK will.

What the deal is, who knows, depends who blinks first.

Exactly right! When GCS played Richmond and Reiwoldt kicked 10.6 on him,  you didn't see May complaining about the midfield did you? Nosireee! He took it on the chin and accepted that it was because he was just not a good enough one on one defender! But Oscar McDonld, did you see his press conference after the Melb v Richmond game when Reiwoldt kicked 2 on him? Carrying on, blaming the midfield for those two goals, it was a terrible look!

He should have taken responsibility for those two goals, just like May did for those 10, right?

/sarcasm

Virtually no defender will win one on one's in modern football without appropriate zoning and midfield support. Oscar had a pretty bloody awesome year considering that fact. Other than Hawkins,  no one really got a hold of him. And as per actual match day form, even May wouldn't make a difference in those scenarios.

This is a very good point. It could also be that May, with his age (and perhaps his reputation for having a potential destabilising influence) actually only had two real suitors. Melb and Coll both feel very close to a premiership, such that the age isn't a factor. They also both have identified backline as a weaker link (of the top 8 teams they had the highest points against). North might fit in this window but a) nobody wants to go there and b) they spent their pick 11 on Polac etc. Other clubs rebuilding might not want to spend a top 10 pick on a 27 year old defender.

Best outcome for me would be that we get May somehow without losing a highly valuable player asset in the process, but I've got no ideas how that would work.

Absolutely spot on. We have met with May and nothing else is happening with him, and Mahoney himself said that we don’t have the ability to get him (a player we have targeted for immediate recruitment) and keep Hogan.

No tea leaves or inside info needed to know what the clubs intentions are in the next 3 business days...

Our whole defensive structure and game plan is to dominate the midfield so we don't ever leave Oscar Mcdonald 1 out. I swear anytime he is left 1 on 1 he gets pushed out of the contest with ease.

No that's ridiculous, of course May is better than OMac. But claiming that when OMac struggles it is his fault, not the midfields, and that May doesn't struggle when the midfield is poor is blatently wrong.

I disagree with your description of our game plan/ structure.  Our structure intends to defend the ball in the midfield, so that it never gets into our D50. The reason for this is that ANY defender,  Omac, May, SOS himself,  will struggle to defend one on one on the current AFL climate, so we shift the defensive battle to the midfield. This was effective: we had less i50s against than any team this year. But as a result left us with lots of exposed one on one's during those entries. It has nothing to do with trying to shield OMac and everything to do with a gamestyle we are playing.

Yes I did.  Are you going to blame OMac for that horrible performance by the whole team? Their midfield smashed ours from the get go. They got the ball out with ease, giving them like pressure i50 entries, and we turned it over in the midfield repeatedly on attack,  leaving our defenders out of position.

Have you got adifferent insight you are trying to share?

May had a tour with the western Bulldogs this week, so clearly is looking at other options. Also the longer it goes the more likely the GCS will hold him to his contact because they will want to plan things with the other picks they have, currently they have 5 picks under 30, and might look to upgrade or move some of the latter ones.

To add to this, Langdon has stayed with the pies, the suspicion was the pies needed him to go to get a trade over the line.

I have no doubt the club will have considered the possibility of trying to sign may if the Jesse deal implodes further

but I reckon you’re right and Tuesday the Neale deal will fall and set off a domino effect sending hogan to freo, May to us and pick 5 to the suns and we will get something else for hogan as well

I disagree with this. Gold Coast are in a rebuild and they won't want a player who's on a high salary remaining at the club when they know he wants to move on and will do so regardless as a FA next year.

Well, hang on. When Hawkins got ahold of Omac, was it our midfield or Hawkins that day? Or are you picking and choosing? And what happened on QBD? Did we try to out position or out body Cox or did we simply let him jump at everything?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
