Why can't we play just simple football?

They have no energy on half their handballs and we often take too long to assess before kicking allowing opponents to easily pick us off.  Many of our clearance handballs are also  too short to a player already covered by an opponent allowing them to tackle us out of the contest too easily.

We play too slow, and look for too many short options by hand and foot as a first choice.  Our decision making and ball movement is pedestrian and needs speeding up and we need to look outside the immediate contest more often for clearance hand balls and the next kick up the field.

Too reactionary, too slow to make decisions and playing the game too short.  Brings other teams into the game too easily.

Not sure we can carry both oscar and weid in the side at this stage, neither offers enough and both get outmarked to easily. May both be good players in time but not there yet

Unfortunately we're lacking in talls to bring in. Way as well keep em in, might just learn something

Both are still very soft. Weideman needs to eat some cement to harden him up, Oscar needs some hunger.......and a new brain.

Oliver looks ginger. And I don't just mean his hair colour.

I'm actually really concerned about their talls. More than I was about Adelaide's. Brown, Waite can go on a real tear.

Called it.

And people here thought we are a chance to win the flag. Lols!

We would've needed to add Josh Kelly instead of adding to Lewis retirement fund and extending Melkshams career. Then maybe wed of had a shot.

I feel their spread from the clearance is killing us, so there clearances are much more effective whereas is seems ours is a quick kick forward

Yep ... we've advanced the ball from our clean clearances but most of the time that movement is stifled after about 30 metres or so.

stop running under the ball weideman. Lewis, hit a fricken target or go back to casey.  and everyone just lift. Goodwin, get your players to lift during the week. for f%ck sake. bunch of soft [censored]!

BT is also a [censored]... really don't like the channel 7 commentary, although Bartel and Riewoldt are pretty good.

The boys have come out with a bit more energy this quarter. Friday night and yesterday with GWS and the Tigers shows that large deficits can be worked back.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
