I'm starting to lean towards Kent getting a game, he may not deserve it but we need as many goal kicking options as we can get.

Youd think so CB, with Hoges now def out.

I'm not convinced about Petracca's fitness either, so he seems like a really solid option at this point.

We need players that hit the scoreboard, and he does that.  Seven scoring shots in the two games hes played, and kicked 25 goals last year.

Dont care what he did for Casey last week, we need firepower. I hope he comes in.

Pedo to ruck with Frost and Watts

Weed for Jesse

TMac on Daniher

Lewis into the back half. Hiiberd plays taller this week (see below)

Frosty forward (Essendon only have Daniher as a marking forward anyways) and rotating with Pedo and Wattsy forward all day. Those 3 moving up and around the ball and then back should be confusing for the Bombers.

I cant see on what basis Weeds will get a game, was in horrific form in the last two games previous!

With Hogan out now Watts has to play permenant forward but I still think Goody likes Watts in the ruck. I'm now leaning to Oscar in & Frost being the #1 ruck meaning Pedersen can play predominant ruck. We aren't going to win the ruck so why rob our forward line of Watts or Pedersen when neither will be any better than frost. I'd be going with

IN: OMac, Lewis, Pedersen, (Kent)*

OUT: Spencer, Hogan, Smith, (JKH)*

* I want this change & think Kent is needed for more fire power but for some reason Goodwin rates JKH I think so will give him another go...

Tom McDonald to go forward and Oscar to come in and fill that void down back, along with Pedo who'll effectively be our number 1 ruck. He can rotate with Watts and potentially Frost when he needs a break, and that way we're still covered down back and up forward.

I think Frost will be a better match up for Daniher than T McDonald anyway, and he's effectively their only tall target.

I know the FD rate JKH, but I don't think they did him any favours, picking him after one ordinary game for Casey.

It may have been better to give him another run with Casey, to find fitness and form.

FWIW, I thought he was terrible and that includes his 7 tackles. He was just plain terrible. Dropping marks, turning it over, fumbling, looking slow and actually being a liability.

If he stays in, hopefully he can give us a better game this week.

They also have Hooker

If Oscar comes in with Pedo, then Pedo can ruck, with Tom, Frost or Oscar having a go forward and relief rucking.

That would leave Watts to play permanent forward, providing forward structure.

If Kent plays and Bugg doesn't, I'll eat my hat.

If Melksham plays, which I suspect he will, I will join you, au chapeau, for dinner.

In: Lewis, Weideman, Hannan, Pedersen, O-Mac and Bugg

Out: Hogan, Spencer, Smith.

Bugg, Weid, O-Mac named on extended bench, meaning Pedersen, Hannan and JKH will play.

Hannan named in the forward line so he will play, JKH and Melksham also named.

We've had some weird selections in recent weeks.

The only thing insulting about Essendon is that they exist in the first place.

Not really. They are coming off a short break & have a road trip to Perth after this

Bellchambers / Luenberger - doesn't really matter given our ruck predicament.
James Kelly has said he would be rested on several occasions this year
Young Francis is very talented but is too fat to safely play 2 games in 5 or 6 days

It's not like they are resting their top liners

Not an insult at all. They are resting players after a wet slog and a 5 day turnaround.

I was hoping we would do the same, but we obviously don't have that luxury.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
