New designated kicker needed

Sorry but Vince should not be our designated kicker anymore. IMO, it should be Salem or Hibberd.

It doesn't help when you don't have a ruckman to kick down the line to.

I liked the way Hibberd sat in the pocket as the short option so when we chipped it to him he could play on and thump it on his left (boundary side) up to the wing.

No big blokes makes our contested game style difficult to play. I'd say we trained all preseason for something we can't do anymore.

Yeah wrecker I like it when Vince kicks short to another good long kick. Really opens up the options and gives us a chance to get it out the back and jump the opposition.

Don't really mind Vince kicking in. I think the problem for him last night wasn't so much when kicking in. It was more his ball use across half back. He is rushing with the ball more this year and making quicker decisions like chipping back where there might have been a better option forward of the ball.

Vince is a good kick of the footy and can kick it long when required. I don't see why he should not continue the duties.

If we're not setting up right for kick ins, or his instructions are poor or unclear or too much is being left to him to decide, these are all team/coaching issues.

The kicker is really only the one executing the plan. Unless the question is of skill, which in this case I don't think it is, then the issue is broader than the kicker and he should not be made the scapegoat for it.

Not hibberd. Too valuable further up field with line breaking and great competitor when ball hits turf. Wasted on the kick in.

Salem is bog ordinary In general play anywhere defensive side of the square IMO. Starting him from the kick in....no thanks.

Vince still required but should play a minor (mix things up) role here IMO. Last night the game plan was always bombing to the right hand flank from either end most of time. Opp just going to read that most of time and get numbers to that side, meaning its a 50/50 or worse on most occasions.

Need that short kick sideways to the pocket or over the top, if its on, to break things up and draw defenders to their man a little more. Try to deaden the 1 & 1/2 intercept method a little. Then the longer bail out kick up the line closer to the wing so it's at least a 50/50 in a less dangerous part of the ground OR the next short pass inside (or lateral) to maintain possession and work up the field slowly unless there's an overlap option on like Hunt/Hibberd/Frost.

Nev seems like the best option from not much choice here. Been around long enough. Wouldn't hurt to step up and give him the responsibility to take this on with occasional short pass chop out from Watts when he isn't having to play 2nd string ruck role. Which will be a fair way off

I think you can achieve all of that without changing who does the kicking.  It's a tactical issue rather than a personnel issue.

Kicking in issues are rarely about the kicker and more to do with the work rate & smarts of those he's kicking to

By continuously going short Vince basically delegated kick out duties to Hibberd.

Kicking in was the least of our problems on Monday, and we certainly had plenty of goes at it. The bigger problem is that we were playing a tall down, even before Spencer & Smith were injured.
