Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Frawley was an AA defender, and his departure netted us very good compensation.

Trengove was destined to be a gun, but never got a run at it due to injuries.

I wouldn't class either as "bungles".

Toumpas over Wines, now there's a "bungle".

We got Brayshaw for chip, who is currently bouncing around the 2s.

Trenners I love,  but never looked like being as good as dusty. He is a jet.

That was the worst 3 goal game i have seen with Jesse Hogan. Thought he cleaned up his attitude over the off season? When Garlett was streaming forward Hogan kept leading back when all he needed to do was lead forward to the ball carrier. Garlett was out on his feet and barely made it to him simply because he was the quick easy one out the back.

Wake up Jesse!

Been saying it for 18 months now but Tom McDonald is not the answer to our backline. He is a 2nd tall defender not a first. I have lost all confidence in our defence and when the general is TMac then we have serious issue's.. Steven May has to be our number 1 priority.

How good was Hibberd though?

Agree with practically all of this. Hogan in particular need to get his [censored] together. Sick to death of his sooking. Jack Watts gets ignored time after time after time after time, but you dont see him giving up like Hogan does.

Why doesn't Hogan lead anymore? He plays his best footy leading up the ground and doubling back. Tonight he stood there like a statue calling for it on his head. I can remember two instances where he had a paddock in front of him and instead of leading st the ball carrier he stood still and called for it on his head. He's so lazy sometimes! Coaches should've thrown him into the ruck in the last quarter and he would've had heaps left in the tank while Watts was out on his feet from busting his ass again. I wish Hogan had Watts work ethic and resilience.

If the ball is delivered poorly...What do you expect?

Frustrating game and night, but what I've come to expect this season.

Major issues converting our forward 50's into scores, too many players that are not kicks in the team.

This loss down to the selection panel for mine. Kent and Pederson should have been playing, with Smith and JKH on the sidelines.

Major issues with 3 or 4 defenders going up for the same ball and leaving their opponent out the back. Melksham and Hunt the major culprits.

Hogan needs to stop playing for frees, it's embarrassing.

Garlett really soft in a contest late in the game in the goal square.

ANB basically summed up his career in this game, not clean enough (how many fumbles in the 1st quarter) and panics under pressure. but you can't fault his endeavour.

Tyson has been horrible this season.

Neville Jetta looked painfully slow.

TMAC crushed in 1 on 1's.

BRING BACK DEAN KENT!

Hogan wants easy shots at goal. Avoids anything over 30 metres as much as possible.

Id still trade Riewoldt for Petracca and Brayshaw. Everyday. When we win a flag with them both out of the centre with Clarry you can hail my genius. ;)

Perhaps on dusty.  Chip only netted us Brayshaw. We would have got trac anyhow.

First time poster however watching up here in Qld with my Sons and Grand Kids I understand we had some players down but boy where are our leaders. Jones and Viney along with Vince and McDonald are not a Selwood. We were 25 points up for goodness sake and with Selwood in our team instead of any of the above. We Win. No argument from any of you on that.

By the way I am also sick and tired of the same useless players getting a game that frustrate the hell out of me. Why does Goodwin select players that are just not up to AFL standard,  JKH is a perfect example. Struggle to get a game in a local league.

Agree with this. McDonald as a 2nd or probably 3rd defender may have a role but right now it's just plain scary. May would be a great target. Anyone lamenting the loss of Frawley is forgetting the effort he gave over the latter part of his MFC time...JH body language may be bad but it's not in the same league.

Agree with Pedo, Spencer is not Gawn. We need a backup ruck that is not J Watts, he is utterly wasted in the ruck.

Yeah true, but I'd still trade Riewoldt for Brayshaw because Hogan has 7 years on him and in our window we'll need suppliers for him.

Hows that for optimism from a supporter whose team has lost 3 straight and hasn't played finals in a decade! ?

There are some seriously silly posts on this thread.

How can anyone have a go at the players for losing that one. "Injuries no excuse"...are you serious? This is a game played by humans, they are not robots. In a high intensity, high pressure game, to lose two players before half time and have another one hobbling in the goal square, it makes it extremely difficult. Add in the fact your no1 ruck is out, then your second ruck goes down before half time, how can you possibly compete on a level playing field? And they are not playing mugs, they are playing a team of elite professional athletes, with 22 fit players. There was nothing more predictable than Richmond running over the top of us. You could see it late in the third.

By all means be frustrated. I am. It's excruciating to know you have a good side, a side in my view that is clearly a class above Richmond, but due solely to bad luck they have beaten us. We outplayed them for three quarters despite our injuries and they only crept past us at the end.

Richmond should get no credit for tonight. That was a Steven Bradbury win if I've ever seen one. Them being 5-0 and us 2-3 is about as illusory as ladder positions get.

Unfortunately we've just copped a shocking run of luck so far this year and in an even competition it can be the difference between finishing 5th or 15th. We finally have a good side capable of getting results and we just haven't had a fair go.

But be frustrated at that. Don't just assume this was an avoidable fade out that the players should take responsibility for. They were fantastic tonight and deserved the four points.

The contrast is exactly what should be played to Jesse multiple times. This is the single thing stopping him from becoming a future legend of the game.

Get rid of his sooking, and replace it with a desire to make someone pay, and you have a champion.

Statistics say that when it is 22 V 21, the 22 wins. When it is 22 V 20, you have very little chance. We are a better side than Richmond, and I don't know who is going to play in the ruck next week.

Not having our ruckman wasn't just about the hit outs. We had no target for our kick ins or rebound 50s. We had no controlled possessions or big guy to bring it to ground to the little guys and they just pumped it back in. Then when we finally got it into our forward line and they just kicked it to Nankervis and got it back down their end.

I'm not sure we had trouble rotating Viney back on. It was us who kept kicking it to the other side. Given that we now know he has a knee issue, maybe he was being held for the last 10 minutes of the game? We couldn't get Oliver back on after we took him off and put Tyson back on. I said to my wife when I saw the interchange that we just handicapped ourselves even more with that change.

Let's hope Essendon write themselves off with a physical game in the wet tomorrow and make the most of their 5 day break.

Better question: Why dosn't anyone honour Hogans leads. He lead alone to the defensive flank over and over during kickouts and they refused to kick it to him. The one time Bernie tried to he missed the target.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
