But how long before there's a couple wearing hijabs in women's league?

Yep, the AFL is digging themselves a nice little hole of stupid here.

Of course the headband is fine. It is less dangerous or brand-damaging than a man-bun.

Of course the hijab should be ok, it's got no impact except possible credit points towards elevation to a higher state of being after you die. But that has no effect on kicking skills now.

But now the AFL has moved itself into a position of picking which teacup it wants to keep it's storm in.

Is there an AFL approved head band he can use?

Yes, it's the GWS colours.

'Nat Fyfe's thin black headband has become synonymous with his playing style' - huh? The AFL should ban the Hun from reporting on football.

No headband for Jayden in multicolours eh?  Ridiculous!  What if Eddie Betts or any other indigenous player chose to wear a headband in Aboriginal colours(Multi coloured of course)?  If the AFL decided to ban this it would cause a major uproar with claims of racism and discrimination. Nothing better to do AFL?

Ive been on the Batfone to Gil.

He understands the gravity of the situation as only he can.

He assured me once hed dealt with his monthly order of gunk and mud tbat he'd put all assets to the task. Expect no less than a board meeting, chips AND dips and 'concensus'.

This matter is no fly away , hair brained matter. This is serious.

Thin edge of the wedge stuff.

Gil wouldn't fib, he was in between Chuckas though ..

he should get one made out of a pearl coloured material that changes with light (red and blue of course). That way he can argue it is all one colour but still have a red and blue headband. Would love to see the rules committee deal with that. I do wonder what happens if part of a headband gets dirty and is then a different colour to the rest of it, are the AFL going to start making players wash their headband every time it gets dirty? Could be like the blood rule, play stops while the offending player leaves the ground to get their headband cleaned!

From the HS article

"But the AFL establishment refused to allow Hunt the freedom of expression, saying all head bands had to be a single colour."

Have the AFL even bothered to look at some of the shoes players wear these days?

Have the AFL even bothered looking at other integral issues such as the LED lighting around the ground, the colour of the hats the kids selling pies are wearing, or why my MCG reserved seat is always covered in bird poop?

Just a passing reference to the headband *ahem* issue - nonetheless a jolly good read about focusing on the real issues by the afl.

Excellent article

Tennis betting occurs on what we would think are insignificant matches. May not be too far into the future when you can bet on the Dimboola thirds.

It is obvious that gaming has gone way too far in the sports context. Time for it to go just like tobacco advertising.

I do notice that they are getting a little more savy... when you load the AFL app for the first time you have to tick a box if you want the game odds to show..

No. They address really vital issues first, like......headbands!

What a pack of absolute w@nker5

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
