Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I saw enough today to make me really optimistic.

We really need to find a KPF who can just as effectively ruck. Watts is not a ruckman, not even a relief ruckman.

Maybe not, but how much more do you want from him. gave his all today.

Effort was top shelf.  Kicking for goal was under the counter (but occasionally those days just happen).  A win in the circumstances would have been unbelievable.  A loss is hard to take, but I'm just so proud of our boys.  In a strange, perverted sort of way, Melbourne might have arrived today.

Dissapointing as clearly we could have won. Tired and put the cue in the rack in the final 20, sure I can wear that, considering where we have been the last decade. I am super super impressed with our midfield, and super super content with where we are headed, considering the 3/4 effort and the intent and energy we displayed. We will be a juggernaut.

Agreed. Played well and aside from the worst case of the yipps we would have won.

Weideman had an absolute shocker, which clearly shows his misses the influence that Hogan brings to the side.  He got their best backman for most of the game and it showed.  Not surprised guys like Hannan, for example, have dropped off a little.  Tyson doesn't worry me though.

Interested to hear what Goody has to say about it, and to also see how the boys at Casey went.  We could be in for a few changes again this weekend.

T. smith a shocker as well but hey it was his first game.

The selection panel let us down in my book.

Peterson and or spencer should have been a lock

When a team burns so many chances against some old pros they usually get burnt! Disgusted with the set shots that were missed! Some of the lads made very little contribution when they had the opportunity to step up. Happy enough with Kent (minus set shots). Hannan is not playing as instinctively as he did in his first game. ANB still has that question mark. Tyson didn't have much influence. I could pay out on some other young blokes who let us down by not being competitive, but I will put the cue back in the rack. I'm sure you all know who I am referring to!

What?  Outside of Jones he was BOG for me.  28 touches and 8 tackles, easily his best game for the club to date.  What more can we ask of him?

I don't get the obsession with the ruck/forward player.

Which teams actually have what you're desiring?

most back up rucks are either second rate ruckman whom go forward and line up on the 3rd best defender or area second rate forward who doesn't kick enough goals and is just tall enough for make it slightly difficult against a true ruckman.

Take a genuine ruckman out of any team and they're gonna find it hard.  The key there is for the kids to read the taps better

How were they to know that Gawn would get injured?  We were 2-0 without Pedersen or Spencer, so they had every right to go with a proper forward to cover Hogan.  We were doing pretty well today as well until Gawn did his hammy.

Smith was okay in the first half, very quiet in the second.  Will probably get another week with Hogan out, though.

How we deal with this loss in the context of the next three weeks (all very winnable games) is so important.

Being  5-1 is a great start to a long season

Anyone who tells you that the two suspensions were not important is kidding themselves

Watts was NOT the problem. Was trying...very hard to be part of Solution. Well done Jack. Hope Goody conveys same.

Hard to play without a ruckman. we were just worn down in the end. Brave effort. Be proud of how far we've come. In previous years that woould have been a 70 point loss.

True. I think playing a first gamer for hogan was always a risk.

We blew our chances and now we suffer the consequence.

Btw i thought beside his howler Nibbler was good. Kent will rue those missed shots but jeez its good to have him back! He makes our forward half alot better. Shout out to Wattsy for battling on. Stretch and Petracca were quite solid and both played 4 quarter games.

Positive: Hunt, Jones, Watts stepping in for Max. Some nice  kicks from Melksham. Stretch early. ANB tried hard. Petracca useful.

Negatives. Hannan (didn't do enough), Tyson (53 percent disposal), Oscar (horrible again), Weideman (no presence), Smith looked off pace.

Yes we are young and we can continue to develop, but no one should be in any doubt that we allowed ourselves to have our pants pulled down (again!) by a couple of old stagers! As far as I am concerned, only Jones out of our leaders, stood tall in trying to pull us out of the ShXX that we got ourselves in! On today's showing we are still 9 - 12 and not an obvious top 8 team. WE were anxious in front of goal. Almost to a man we were signalling that we didn't want to be the one that nailed the gettable goal. Weak as PiXX in my humble opinion!

His second half, once he got the speed of the game back, was sensational.  As you say, he makes our forward line better.  He is deceptively good in the air as well.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
