who gets hawthorns 1st pick this year they might just get lucky with that 1

St Kilda!

It doesn't matter where Hawthorn finish, their first availalbe pick will be around #35-#40 depending on where GWS finish and how many Academy, Father/Son, and AFL FA compensation picks there are.

Finishing in the bottom 4 with no draft picks has a nice karma about it!!!  A world of pain awaits the Hawks!

Summary of their 2017 draft position is:

HAWTHORN

· Round two selection (tied to GWS)

· Round one selection to St Kilda
· Round two selection to Gold Coast

We won't see anymore players who want to 'play finals' flocking to Hawthorn anytime soon.

The look on Chips face, as they trudged of the ground last week, was priceless, it was the same look he had at Melbourne when we were shyte and now he's back in it again.

Yeah, nah Chip, we don't want you back.

Vickery and O'Meara have really made up for the loss of Mitchell and Lewis haven't they?

Who has Hawks first round pick this year

St. Kilda.

It will come in handy if they want to chase an out of contract star.  Hawks have served it up to them on a platter.

Having found this out, I now don't want Hawthorn to finish in the bottom 4. :P I don't want one of our competitors to get a head start like this.

How the hell did St Kilda end up with Hawthorn's first rounder? What an absolute coup; I don't remember them losing anything substantial in the last draft/trade period.

St. Kilda gave up their first rounder (Pick 10) from last season for Hawks first rounder from this year, plus a second and third rounder from last year.  Hawks then used Pick 10 to land Slowger O'Meara.

Hawthorn are suffering from what scientists are calling "the Vickery effect."

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
