Goodwin has gone missing in action.

He must be devastated to the point of paralysis. What can he say? He, the coaches, the players and the club have collectively f**ked up big time. Everyone connected to the club is hurting. Unlike 186 this time there is no scapegoat.

I think there'll be plenty of soul-searching going on for Goodwin. He will, rightly, be second-guessing his approach to players and whether it's strong enough to drive us towards sustained success.

The good-cop, bad-cop routine only works when you have both in play.

I got sent a little booklet explaining how to buy finals tickets. Talk about rubbing it in.

Can only hope that any players who've done the right thing and signed themselves up felt like we did when we opened the letter box tonight.

I gave it to the club on the Facebook page the other day. Fancy sending out finals emails before Round 23, particularly when we could still miss out and there was a week's break in between.

An absolute disgrace. We've been like the Melbourne of old the past week. A rabble once more. Utterly embarrassing.

I don't know about anyone else but I've been very quiet on my social media account in the past few months and very humble in our victories. But everyone's been giving it to me for the pitiful exit and now to make matters worse, we have these finals flyers being sent to us in the mail (as well as by email last week).

Back to being [censored] embarrassed to be a Melbourne supporter again. Congratulations, you muppets.

The whole affair stinks of arrogance and premature backslapping. Hate it and it needs to change. Not good enough, MFC.

My family and I attended 17 games again this year, including a limp and insipid Tasmanian showing. It's about time we started respecting the heart and soul of our club - the members.

This last week on and off field has almost certainly cost us at least 5,000 new members in 2018. Next time do your job properly, otherwise you can bugger off.

It's the people like you i actually feel the most sorry for AF. 17 games around Australia is a HUGE finacial and time commitment you designated to the MFC, to be treated with disdain this last week.

I am a Member and have been for years, but i certainly couldn't afford to travel around the country each week.

All power to you mate.

Sharpen up Demons.

On all Levels.

I work a 24/7 roster  and give up extra pay on weekends to watch Melbourne. I'll be requesting Sundays every week next year. It's just not worth it. I just calculated: I missed out on close to $10k in extra salary this year.

The history of this club over the last decade and they send out premature finals brochures, not only do the players get ahead of themselves so do the administration. So p1ssed off with this club at the minute, they literally give me the sh1ts

If true this woman openly flaunts her support for Richmond at the shop  she should shut up and show respect to our supporters or be sacked.

She does not it was someone stalking her online that found out. Ridiculous, she's just doing a job there doesn't need to be harassed by mouth breathing footy supporters because she wore a Richmond scarf in a Facebook picture.

I don't agree that there has been any 'good cop, bad cop' routine. He is all about the process, process process. I doubt he'd be second guessing anything... he'll be adding things to the repertoire  -be that coaching, psychology, but not doubting his process of always being process driven.

The funniest thing about this final tickets stuff is we would've been playing interstate had we made it anyway so it's unlikely many of our supporters would've been travelling to Sydney or Adelaide for the game (and those that would've could surely figure out how to get to the Ticketek website assuming it hadn't crashed again).

Emailed the club membership department and requested it be passed on to the ceo- they obviously know it was a stuff up but feedback is important re the finals invite .

I have never once thought to write an email, or have a whinge on Facebook, to the club, ever. That was until this morning when I fished that little finals brochure out of my mailbox. I honestly can't believe the club could be so bloody stupid.

My biggest concern about the team, for years now, has been how they seem to get ahead of themselves after good wins and good form, and ultimately underestimate lower teams and succumb to unlikely losses. I used to think it was just the playing group, but it is clear this is a club wide issue of getting comfortable and getting ahead of themselves.

We are nearly one week on from the weekend that was, and I'm still every bit as gutted as I was then.

Great isn't it. The MFC as a whole has learnt NOTHING from the Roosy 3 years.

They all think they have, but the last week is proof that they still can only talk tough but not produce when it counts.

The one Positive out of all this is that the club has exposed itself both on and off the field to its 42,230 Paid up Members. Whereas before they could hide a lot of the rubbish, this time there is nowhere to hide. Keep that Finals Guide as a reminder of how badly this year was handled.

I am still shaking my head at the level of incompetence made public over the last 7 days.

The next AGM will be fascinating....

I complained last night and got a lengthy reply this morning.

In short, 10 clubs had these booklets produced by the AFL. They were finalised on the 14th August. The AFL bore the cost of them. The club is surprised they have only begun to arrive this week.

I presume the other club was St KIlda. I don't hear anything of their members getting them.

I'd say it was the Dogs, being the reigning premier and still in the hunt at the time.

I seriously doubt your last line. I have been to 14 of the last 15 swyl. Only the rusty on supporters go and bar one question in all that time they have been mild. The MFC is a club who,s members are a compliant bunch. What other member group would have endured the majority of the last  half century?

Last Saturday will change a lot of that apathy.

As i said, the club has now fully exposed itself. Even after Roosy spent 3 years sorting out the foundations.

Nowhere to hide.

I'm glad I check my mailbox like once a month if that (saving the environment with electronic bills and direct debits). Might just throw a match in there tonight before I open it. Don't think I could handle opening this booklet.

I am beyond confused by who manages the communication or indeed who posts the mail. They are clearly taking the [censored].

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
