Their bye is this weekend, so I guess if that is read to be true he could be back for the game v Essendon on 22/07 ?

This bit though...

... to me says the problem is more with Brayshaws mental state than anything. If he still has the confidence to get in there and stick his head over the ball again.. etc ?

I think this is outrageous. You are virtually accusing him of cowardice. It does nothing to help Gus in his recovery and certainly stirs up a hornet's nest when we should all be doing everything possible to support the club it its recovery to full fitness. I'm sure you would be the first to criticise if we missed the finals through poor morale in the latter stages of the season.

How about if ProDee agrees to exchange 'gun-shy' for 'tentative' or 'hesitant', and you can use 'unfair' in place of 'outrageous', and we can prevent this forum from sounding like Hansard or the Herald Sun comments section?

How that can be construed as accusing him of cowardice is beyond me. It's perfectly understandable that Gus would be concerned about repeat incidents that could endanger his continued career as a footballer, and as such he may well be hesitant about taking the field. Gun-shy is just another term for hesitant.

I interpreted it the same way as Dees2014 initially because of all the previous ways I'd heard the term used 'gun-shy' in the past, and because ProDee offered no other context or explanation whatsoever other than a one-liner.  I know I wasn't the only one.  English language and our interpretation of what people say is shaped by our experience, generally, not by whipping out a dictionary every time. I thought his point was unclear.

I'm surprised Dees2014 still took that view after ProDee went to pains to explain that it wasn't his implication, though.

From what I saw on the footy show a short time ago, I'd say Viney will play next week if he has his way. He moved well during the handball competition, not that you can go by that though.

You wouldn't think he was on crutches only two days ago if you saw that.

The revolving door continues. Dean Kent out injured indefinitely and Bernie Vince suspended for two matches. A few "tests" but no doubt the conservative approach will continue and only Dom Tyson and Jack Watts will get a guernsey. My guess is Salem & Viney wait one more week at least.

Watts will be tbe key in. Having him out has really demonstrated how critical he is to our side, particularly his composure and delivery of rhe ball indide 50.

I also suspect hoges will love having him back, as much for rheir obvious bond as the improved delivery he'll get.
