Good little article on Gussy by Roosy. Really excited and intrigued on how Brayshaw will go this year. Another solid inside midfielder who has class and toughness to add to our side.

Great that this bloke is being sheltered from external expectation by Trac and others.  at another time we would have been relying on Gus to be the future

I really rate him, he is a lot more than an inside midfeilder, he is truely an all rounder.  even in JLT I remember he took possession, saw a player coming, dropped the shoulder and ran around hime so easily.  he is a natural talent, great fella and fierce competitor

Met him briefly at the Casey Community Camp when I was getting autographs for my daughter - got that touch of Brayshaw smartar$e about him which I like!

Much taller in person than I thought too he's not that much shorter than Hogan, should be in for a great year.

I've always thought he could be the best of them. I try not to post when everyone carries on about clarry and how he has the biggest upside since everyone should be able to wax lyrical about their current favorite but Gussy could easily be the next pendlebury. He has incredible football smarts and is always where he needs to be. The only mistakes he makes are typical young player ones, the occasionally poor disposal. 

I won't carry on, but that boy is going to be something special. He isn't a showboat so i think it will sneak up on people but even at this early stage he is able to motor around and just be in the right place at the right time. He can go inside or out with equal skill. He can kick in the left or right with equal skill. He is the full package.

He is my favourite Dees player. He isn't perfect but has very few weaknesses and I love his toughness. And he is a grwat decison maker when at full pace. There are others with more skill (Petracca, Tyson) but I can see him leading in a Jordan Lewis kind of way when games are close are everything is tight. Can't wait to see what he becomes this year.

I'm suprised some fans and media soured on him last season. He had some setbacks but still managed to play his was back into a pretty good team.

He could be one of the most improved this season.

It's aa credit to T VIney and his team how they have shaped this list where a bloke this talented can go under the radar.

Times have changed for the better, where even if he doesn't come on to be an outright superstar it doesn't matter anymore. We want solid contributors each week not one or two game winners

Petracca, Salem, Brayshaw, Oliver, Hogan, Weed, Hunt, Stretch, neal Bullen and even Kennedy Harris is such an exciting group of youngsters.

The most exciting thing is these boys haven't even hit their peak ages yet.....

I feel he is more solid, and stronger than Pendelbury at this stage of his career.    

Like you, won't carry on -- well not much -- but he could be a genuine A+ grader.

I don't see much of Pendelbury in Brayshaw at all to be honest. I think he is going to be a great player but I can't see the similarities at all

No matter how many times I see it, I'm suprised by his 187cm listing, as he always looks kind of stocky and low-centre-of-gravity.

I'm thrilled by the prospects of seeing the next ten years of our midfield rotation featuring -

1. Petracca tearing games apart in ways that get his name into pub debates about 'the best individual game of football ever',
2. Oliver turning the whole momentum of a game by seizing clearance after clearance,
3. Salem cutting holes in opposition midfields and defences at all the crucial times,
4. Viney stomping and crushing and refusing to let things slip or ever let an opponent have an easy moment,
5. Tyson relentlessly going again and again, shifting the balance with sheer weight of initiative,

But for all that excitement, it is Brayshaw I am most anxious to see come to fruition. I feel like he is the most 'complete' footballer of the lot. The kind who could get Brownlow votes in just about every game of a season, even while the others are sharing the 3-votes.

Very easy to forget the Gus was the number 3 pick in the same year that McCartin and Petracca went above him.

The number 3 pick in a draft of around 80.

Don't know why people are surprised, the dudes game against Richmond in 2015 where he had 11 tackles should have been a fair indicator.

The poll question was one I actually needed to pause on. Asking who will have the best career between Gus, Clarry, and Trac (and other). I said Clarry but I really like Gus's game, I can't remember who it was against but I recall Gus setting up Garlett with two brilliant long kicks with fantastic vision and Jeffie didn't event have to slow down for them. I also think they were within 5min of each other!

I really love what we're building here and better yet we have players fighting to get into the squad instead of shuffling deck chairs on the titanic!

In his first year he showed signs of being captain material.  He had 'Leader' stamped all over him.   If we didn't have Viney, Brayshaw would highly likely be captain at some stage.

I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes VC to Viney when Jones hangs up his boots.  Or if the club keep the co-cap model, that Brayshaw gets the gig (with a nod to Max Gawn as the other most likely).

Our midfield is scary good:  Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver, Tyson, Salem, (potentially Petracca).  Collectively, they remind me of the Lions midfield of the early 2000's: Black, Voss, Akermanis, Power.

Unlike 2015, Gus now has the players around him to bring out his best and to share the midfield load.  He is a major part of our future success! Can't wait to see him fire again.
