That's good. He certainly has competition for spots this year but i have a lot of time for frosty and reckon he has significant upside. His athleticism, ability to play tall but most of all his pace and ability to run though lines are all super valuable traits in modern footy and our game plan in particular. I would be very surprised if he is not regular in our 22.

Yes completely agree. I love his pace and has a bit of agro about him and have him entrenched in my backline in the best 22.

Still, I'm not super on his kicking ability and worry slightly with him standing next to the Macs and possibly Hunt. None of which are outstanding by foot.

This is why I think Hibberd being fit is vital

I reckon he is 70% athlete and 30% footballer - if he can get a little more football nous about his work he could be a walk up start.

VitalDread is a Casey official who post on bigfooty a fair bit and this was his run down.

Hannan- Really showed class with the footy and broke the lines open, really has elite speed esp coming from a part time footballer
Tim Smith: Took some solid marks up forward and kicked 2 goals form memory, played high up the ground
Maynard: rotated through the midfield and on the wing, did some nice things, still learnign the overall game
Trengove: just do trengove stuff, nothing special was a class above
Jetta: Looked really fit after missing out on somany games, took some strong contested marks in defense
Kent: played a solid game as a midfielder and forward, nothing too special did appear to havehis hammy worked on a bit
Johnstone: hard running midfielder that hassome class with the ball
McKenna: didn't spot too much of patty throughout the game
Pederson: used in the ruck and down in defense and had a solid hitout, nothing overall special from him just classic pedo game
Kennedy: took the game on when he had the ball and was a spark of forward, though he did drift in and out of the game
Hulett: Didn't notice much of Hulett, kicked 2 goals i think

He's same poster from bigfooty who supplied vision from last week's game and a Doggies fan.

Sounds like he liked the games of Hannan and Johnstone the most and that none of the rest are really going to challenge other than the usuals - Kent, Jetta and Pedo.

No mention of Declan Keily?

Sorry fellas, wasn't able to attend this one as I was at a "Before the Game" Function with Kevin Sheedy and Rex Hunt last night before todays JLT game at my home town of Moe.

As for the no mention of Keilty, Dec hurt his ankle during the week. It's nothing serious as he trained Friday morning but they felt it best they rest him for the game.

As for Joel I'm not sure.

... or Joel Smith?

From Goodwin's post game press conference it sounded like he was injured/rested from the game and is in the mix for round 1. Apparently he will play in the Casey game next week.

I suspect we'll know much more after the practice game against Port next weekend.  It's good to see that we had plenty of players who were fit to play in the intra club, and getting some run into the legs of guys like Kent and Jetta can only be a good thing.

Random question, are Casey being that they're now the Casey Demons changing to the red and blue MFC strip with Casey sponsors?

Hows Dec traveling mate? Really hope he bangs the door down at Casey because I think his upside is huge and from watching him he would already be one of the best intercept marks we have at the club.

I also think Oscar is still so far off that I want Dec putting pressure on at Casey for a spot in the back half.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
