Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

We've got our first interstate game this week and it happens to be against the bottom of the ladder GWS Giants. This reeks of a danger game in my opinion - Melbourne needing a win to keep finals hopes alive against a winless team. Suffice to say if we do not bring it and we lose then not only are we are out of the running for the first AFLW flag, but it'll be in the most embarrassing circumstances.

GWS pushed Carlton in Round 2 I believe, nearly got a win over Collingwood but were then rolled last week by the Lions. Who knows what they'll bring, but there is a lame-ish video of Stevie J training them on their website so maybe that might have some kind of impact.

One thing I do know is that we have been increasing the intensity and skill across the whole team after each round so if we continue that then this week we could potentially belt the living christ out of the opposition and gain some good percentage in the process. Here's hoping Daisy outdoes her 29 touches against Carlscum and becomes the 1st AFLW player to crack 30.

If we get the chocolates then we'll have won 4 in a row, which is fantastic (and required) momentum in this short comp. This will see us at a minimum 3rd place on the ladder, and if Adelaide lose to the Lions then we will be equal with them albeit on a lower percentage.

Will the travel and weather have an impact on the team? Hard to say. I'm hoping they recover well as we have Adelaide in Darwin the following week in another must-win game.

At the end of the day, I'm tipping we will get a big win here - but there's always the chance with the MFC of being let down at the most integral moment.

Team should be released Thursday night.

Adelaide 7.6. 48       GWS    1.6 12

Carlton 7.5 47          GWS 5.4 34

Fremantle  6.7 43     GWS   7.1 43

Brisbane 6.7 43       GWS   1.3 9

GWS has the worst 'against' score in the game, at 181, but it might be more significant that they have given away at least 40 points in every game. There's not been one specific blowout.

They obviously have a mixed record as far as their own scoring. GWS' total failure to score against the top teams is part of why Adelaide and Brisbane have such good percentage. But they did manage to crack Freo's leaky defense (second worst after GWS) and Carlton's rather inconsistent one.

So the opportunity is there to clamp down on GWS' scoring, and to also enact a goal-fest of our own, and it might be the deciding point of whether our percentage can climb high enough to break past whichever of Adelaide and Brisbane falter.

Time to find out if the 'falter when we're expected to win' curse covers the women's team as well as the mens.

I don't think so, I think the leadership is too good on the women's team.

A bit annoyed this game is on at 5 in the afternoon. Was looking forward to a friday night watching the game, guess I will have to record it and ignore all news outlets until I watch it.

Would have been better if we were also playing the giants in the JLT and formed a proper double header. Not sure why the AFL didn't look at this for all clubs with women's teams, surely it would boost the attendance and TV ratings.

Great news here

Have yet to see these kind of foot skills in the AFLW, hope it carries across in games. She looks a good height too...

Tackles evaporated in the first quarter, beginning to balance now.

15-4 inside 50s in our favour at half time, but we're down two goals against the bottom team.

I'm glad they are being 'authentic' Demons, but now they've proven they understand our traditions, it would be great if they rose above them.

A 10 goal second half and I'll be content again!

Umpires terrible, but the worst thing about the game is Kelli Underwood's horrendously repetitive commentary and appalling nasally voice, which features the flatest vowels I've ever heard.  She makes reporter Teagan Dolling from 7 news sound like Queen Elizabeth.

I now have it on mute.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
