Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm just so glad that the recruiting team didn't go the safe option in Parish (who is also a good player). Clarry is something else, though.

Parish was found out in our game yes has some skills but looks a weedy kid, not destined for much better tag of reasonable player nothing more nothing less.

Not as good as this bloke Clarry Choo Choo Express

I'm starting to think Oliver could be a pretty good player.

I`m struggling to think of a more exciting kid in my lifetime to make such an impact in his first 20 games in the red and blue. I`m trying to come up with names but none appear.

Jason Taylor simply doesn't get enough credit that he deserves right now.

Could have gone the safe option in Patish but backed his team to pick an absolute beauty here.

Well done Jason Taylor and team.

I know Jason Taylor from a distant past and never ever, thought he would become such a brilliant Talent purveyor that he has become. Just mind boggling! Great stuff!

Yup, its too bad Gus Brayshaw is struggling with the concussion, no doubt hed have been a  star too.  Maybe he still will.

Havent thought about the draft as the Dees are going well, but glad we are back in the first round this year and Jason Taylor can find us another young dynamo.

The Parish thing is great. The fact Clarry came up so late and Demons didn't even hesitate, just snatched him (tried for Mills understandably). Mates of mine are bombres, and they started on the "thanks for Parish" stuff... and early on I was worried we had another Toumps/Wines on our hands. Not anymore though. We got the player. And my god, what a player.

Would love to land one of the GWS smalls to compliment our mid brigade. Kelly has got a lot of trade press of late, any one of Shiel, Cogniglio, Whitfield or even Dylan Smith would be handy.

I'd take $cully back, but he'd have to play VFL only

Maybe we should be targeting Zac Jones from the Swans instead. (Make it impossible for the competition to keep up with the Joneses!)

At the moment would we rather Mills (the bloke we bidded on) or Oliver from the 2015 draft?

I'll take Olly based on what separates him from everyone else. I think his hands in quick might be the best in the AFL. Certainly in a few years, with development, size etc etc... He could very well be regarded as that. Whereas Mills is just good at everything and is a leader. Not much in it, but Olly for mine.

Given every man and his dog knew Mills would be taken by Sydney wherever he was bid for... Was our bid tactical?

Actually BBP, Ive spent my time since yesterday doing something I haven't done in over ten years. Swimming in the Bigfooty mire. They do really good Redos of drafts. Lots of highlights like Hunt... Lots of lowlights like Toumpas. Olly's draft though... He's probably either first or second on a redo with Mills. Weitering will likely overtake them in the long run. Hipwood and Rioli climbing... Lots there that you have to wait for like Schache... but it's looking fun for us so far.

I think so long as he finds himself on the inside, he's always going to default to handballing. It's how the game is played - you don't kick from congestion because it's too risky - and it's his strength.

If we want to see him getting more kicks, he needs to get the ball in space more. This really is splitting hairs, though, when talking about a 19 year old midfielder. He'll find the balance soon enough - it's not like the team is suffering until he finds it.

Hopefully he gives the kick from congestion more of a go after that shot on goal when he stole Eddie's pocket!

Not sure how you could think this when he absolutely dominated in his first game and despite only being half fit last year was second for all the nominated rising stars for contested possessions. Gerard Healy called the best debut he had seen. The Toump played one decent game for Melbourne in three seasons against St Kilda which ironically he lost for us as well.

As always with these things, when you make the comparison, you need to quote stats or some hard data to prove your mates wrong. By round 2 Parish was looking like the media Darling, kicking goals... People hadn't really gotten excited about how ridiculous Clarry's hands are. You'd better believe the Dons supporters were up and about when we lost to them with Parish playing well as well. I always had faith... but at the time, you know how it is, I couldn't beat them over the head with him. Since then Clarry is right now, at minimum, on any reasonable football followers AA bench. Hasn't played a bad game. And it's not just handballs. He's tackling like a maniac, kicking goals of the week. And the football purists who don't do stats... they really notice what he is and how he brings players into the game. He's Simon Black like.

I reckon he is so quick that the statisticians miss some of his in close handballs, I think he is better than his stats!

I would love it if Oliver took a hand balling training session once a week for all our players. Not just teaching our players about awareness, vision because they are things that can't be taught. But things like handballing mid air before landing, is such an asset majority of AFL players don't seem to execute. It prevents you from being tackled and gives you that one extra second to dish it off to a team mate. Could mean the difference between a crucial clearance and a stoppage.

Oliver, you're a star.

Wagner can have a one on one with him .. Needs all the extra help he can get. That missed 2 meter handball backwards was inexcusable.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
