Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why anyone in this thread thinks they have a better idea than Clarry on how Clarry should dispose of it is beyond me.  The kid is a one in a million.  He knows what the best disposal method is for each situation, and we have no bloody idea.  That's the best part of having a player like this guy.  We just get to sit back and think "wow, that's how the good players play".  It's what makes them good.

I don't pretend to know how to coach Clarrie to make him an even better disposer of the ball, but the kid is only 19. To suggest that he already knows how to perfectly dispose of the ball in every situation is ludicrous. He makes mistakes, but he's a kid still learning his craft - that is what makes him so exciting. Who knows how high his ceiling might be.

I think so long as he finds himself on the inside, he's always going to default to handballing. It's how the game is played - you don't kick from congestion because it's too risky - and it's his strength.

If we want to see him getting more kicks, he needs to get the ball in space more. This really is splitting hairs, though, when talking about a 19 year old midfielder. He'll find the balance soon enough - it's not like the team is suffering until he finds it.

As he builds a tank he'll be able to get that balance and find more footy in space. The kid is still only playing about 70%TOG.

He'll be the new perma-captain in fantasy footy once he has an AFL standard tank.

Not saying it's right or wrong and obviously game style has changed a fair bit over the last 20 odd years, but Greg Williams, known as both a prolific handballer disposal getter lead the league for both these categories for most of the period between 1984 - 1994, with an average hanballs per game of around 16 and average disposals of 30 - so far this year Clary is going at 23 and 31 respectively.

well said. Agree totally in your reply. Clarrie will take time to develop and for anyone who has played the game, when in close the only option sometimes is to hand ball. Jordan Lewis is of similar ilk and he knows how to create space to either effectively kick or handball. That game plan will come with Clarrie.  What we also should give credit to are the people who decided to select Clarrie over names like Sharenberg,Rioli or Hopper in the first place.

Would love to land one of the GWS smalls to compliment our mid brigade. Kelly has got a lot of trade press of late, any one of Shiel, Cogniglio, Whitfield or even Dylan Smith would be handy.

I'd take $cully back, but he'd have to play VFL only

Think you mean Devon Smith? He can be inconsistent but I really rate him and he'd be the most gettable of those by far.

That's him. Thanks Luth. They are all reasonably young but good size and smart footballers (Whitfield not so smart off field).

And FMD isn't that Lobb a big, mobile unit...

Lobb is a genuine freak, might just be the best of he, Patton and Cameron.

Is there a futures market for the Brownlow?

Once the umpires can see as fast as Oliver can gather/dispose, he will win in a canter.

I'd put a grand on him now.

Quite simply a magnificent player - he has everything and he's 19. Perhaps we are watching one of the greatest ever emerge in front of our own eyes.

I still can't get over seeing him grabbing the ball while he is in mid air and before his feet have hit the ground he has already fired out a handball. The awareness and speed is insane.

This kid keeps getting better, and I can't thank Todd Viney and co for picking him. He could be the best of our lot of young lad and given the talent in that group that is really saying something.

He kicked it more this week and he's usually damaging with his kicking. He obviously kicked a miracle goal, but he directly setup another goal by pulling the trigger and kicking long instead of hand balling it off like he usually does. Goodwin has started resting him forward too which is a good move as his hands are strong and he's setup a few goals now while resting down there (set one up for Petracca last week and two I can remember last night).

This kid is already a great player, but he could be a star of the comp in the very near future. So excited to have such a talent playing for the Dees!

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
