Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's telling that the bomber fans on big footy and bomberblitz have said hardly anything about Oliver after Sunday's match. Not that we care what they think but I would say it is dawning on even the thickest Essendon fan that Oliver will be a one in a generation star.

Because they didn't pick first. They can be happy with Parish.

It'd be a different story if they had the choice between Oliver and Parish.

This kid is the best I have seen in over 50 years of following the MFC ( fully acknowledge that only been a semi intelligent footy follower for the last 30). He Has such a quick footy brain. Once his team mates learn to play off him we will be a much better team.

I googled this claim by ADC at the time believing the same point you make only to find, yes Raptors do have extraordinary binocular vision and they see detail we will never see but eagles and Hawks also have 320 degree peripheral vision compared to our 180 degrees.

So Fact Check in this case says the claim is basically true!

I will start calling him Ollie the Eagle from now on.

Basically true but I would say that Hawks are now prey rather than predator and eagles soon to be as well

And yet for all their supposed peripheral vision, the Hawks certainly didn't see 1-5 coming.

I wonder if Richmond were crushing on him in his draft year? He played 2 VFL games for them in 2015. If we snatched him away from them too, even better.

Oliver is well on the way to being a superstar.

Excellent company! But it did pain me a little to see that Sloane and Wines should have been Dees as well. Anyway I guess its a futile argument because we get one of them then maybe we dont finish in the same ladder positions to get the others. Also, it just mght be that Oliver is the best of them all. I thought he was brilliant as a first year player last year but I didnt expect the jump in quality he's showing this year.

Instead of ringing up GWS(love in) all the time to see if they are right for players for the next few weeks, the umpires could could figure out how to get themselves in better visual positions during games!!!

Hopefully he'll see the value of fitness and application. He seems to be enjoying his Footy.

Maybe he'll come to the next preseason with his current outlook.

Mind boggles as to where he can go.

Didn't realize that.  Still, he should have washed that stain out of himself by now.

Agree wise. Plays tall doesn't he? There isn't a lot he doesn't do. As opposition coach... I don't even know what you can do to stop him. Tag him? Unlikely to be that effective given his inside work. Would just get 6 frees a game and free up Viney.

He's got long arms so yeah he can play tall and is strong enough to clunk some marks

Project forward 4/5 years, Clarry's played around 100 games and has improved as expected.

What does it take money wise to keep him from the wolves at the door?

Richmond thought he would slip all the way out to pick 12. They had him in their sights and thought they were going to get away with a steal. As more talk came that he was set rise into the top 10  the tigers were filthy knowing that they had let one slip especially after the mountain of work they put into him.

Are you speculating that in time  he could maybe become quite a handy player? ? Very perceptive. ?

It's just possible...but shhh

Seriously , given his 'interesting' path and start with us and seeing him evolve he might well one day have his own ' silverware' ;)

Usually... in fact always... we look at a player and say "it's scary to think where he'll be in 5 years." Think Heeney, Hipwood, Petracca... This whole idea that with a few years of development it's basically a definite that each young player will improve. How often do we end up disappointed?

You can't even say he'll be great one day. He already is. The numbers he's putting up, for a 6 week stretch, are top ten  in the league. SEN this evening did an All Australian Midfield, and said that after their starters were decided (the usuals, Dangerfield, Sloane, Selwood blah blah) they basically had Ollie on the bench with Wines.

Screw the development. Even if this is what we got for 12 more years... He's still a gun already. Potential isn't even relevant.

Do you mean they had the name 'Ollie' next to the name 'Wines' on the bench, as in the footballer named Ollie Wines sitting by himself? Or that Clayton Oliver, universally known by the nick-name 'Clarry', was on the bench next to Wines? I'll assume that you're trolling again, or else misunderstand a basic fundamental in the development of language; namely that the words we use have to be consistent in meaning and understood by both parties for there to be such a thing as communication.

Anyways, yay for Choo-Choo!

Excuse me? Trolling? Again? Have never trolled. Don't plan on it. Check your facts before you accuse posters, and show a little respect.

And no, they made the point in the program that they were dwelling on two separate players, and that it was vaguely comical. One with the surname Oliver and one with the surname Wines. Pretty much all their texts apparently were based around people who couldn't believe neither were on the ground in their starting AA midfield.

Here's a little fundamental about the development of language for you. People don't always communicate in a way that both parties enjoy or understand. The blame doesn't always lie with the person that conceives the wording. Sometimes, often in fact, the listener/reader is just a dingbat who either can't understand plain English, or refuses to.

Here's another fundamental for you. Check your facts before you go off half cocked.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
