Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

ROB Jackson has spent enough time around top-drawer athletes to recognise the exceptional at first glance.

Strength and conditioning coach at Melbourne, Jackson’s journey has pitched him into contact with a gamut of professional sportsmen — some more gifted than others.

It was during a stint with the Melbourne Storm that Jackson came to appreciate the unmatched athleticism of Greg Inglis and the unparalleled completeness of Cameron Smith.

Both are matchwinners, both hewed from contrasting material.

Fast forward almost a decade and Jackson draws ready comparison between Inglis and Smith and Demon talents Joel Smith and Clayton Oliver.

“Greg Inglis was a freak, an amazing athlete and to watch his ability to turn it on or off was incredible,” Jackson, an IsoWhey Sports ambassador, said.

“He could look very relaxed and then be told ‘lift this now’ and there was a huge power switch and then he would look as if he’s back to sleep again.

Just type 'Herald Sun' and the exact words of the headline into the Google search field and it will give you the article sans the pay wall.

Well, I qualify that - 60% of the time, it works every time.

The Sex-Panther technique .

I'll try it.

Jackson's comments bode well :)

Some high praise indeed.

On Cam Smith, I do remember years ago reading that the strength and conditioning man at the Storm at the time (it might have been Rob Jackson) used to call him 'The Accountant' because he thought he just didn't look like an athlete.

Oliver scored more AFLCA votes last week: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-18/aflca-votes-round-four

With 20 votes he sits 6th, 4 behind the leader (Wines) and slightly ahead of the captains of the current top 3 teams on the ladder.  The top 10 players is a roll call of the best AFL players.  Huge achievement for Oliver.

As Macca said a few weeks ago Oliver was an inspired choice by recruiters.

Can we please sign him up for a 10 year contract extension

If we didn't already know, we have an absolute superstar on our hands.

I`m sure there are a load of other stats he will be ranking high in, but 4th in the comp for disposals (mostly contested I`d say) and 5th for tackles is stunning for a kid in his 2nd year who has played a handful of games.

He is fast becoming our most important player, particularly with Max out for a few more months!

Already better than cripps imo, and his stats are better when you compare cripps break out year to Oliver this year, it's looking at a ripper draft who would you take at pick 1 Oliver or weitering not sure anyone else from that draft could be considered at this stage

I have never seen a player, let alone a Melbourne player, with hands and vision like he has; it truly is extraordinary to see the things that he can do.

With that said, he is still undersized for his position and when he starts to utilise his strength and breakaway speed a little bit more, he will be in the top 10 players in the comp.

Oliver is class above the rest of our mids ( it's tragic),if Joel Smith ends up a mid next year that will be super. Maynard another basketball convert seems to be following in Smith footsteps. This year it will be hard to see us making finals due to injuries. We don't seem to have enough quality players in the reserves, just revolving door types. Most of all we need to get another quality mid and a ruck/forward player.Perhaps those tall players in the reserve need to be given ruck duties i.e O.Mac.,Flipovic,Weed. Ruck work can improve stamina and confidence. If these light wts ruckman get pushed off the ball easily then the mids will have to take up the slack.People will say that I am crazy but I did say Watts should be able to ruck under the Neil Craig coaching empire.( not really an empire ).

4th in the competition for disposals AND 5th for tackles.

The only other player on both top 5 tallies is Joel Selwood.

The kid is a star. Once he starts getting wider recognition he'll get looked after better by the umps too.

He is definitely playing better but I think Tyson, Lewis and Viney are OK too. In terms of clearances yes at the moment a class above but we have good contributors around him like ANB, Strech and Salem.

Clarry's got a brother 2 - 3 years his senior who plays country footy.

It would be interesting to see how fares in his local games, as well as determine if he has the right/ or similar attributes to improve and succeed in a professional environment.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
