Good hit out and solid contribution from all. However, the McDonald brothers really need to work on their disposal and decision making. CP was epic today and if he can consistently play to that level then he could be anything.

T-Mac needs to look for best option rather than O-Mac for only option.

Normally put this meaningless ladder elsewhere but it seems appropriate for here and now - the live ladder:-

Gold Coast Suns 1 - - 81 57 142.1 4

Collingwood 1 - - 105 94 111.7 4

St Kilda 1 - - 57 56 101.8 4

Petracca could be scarily good this year.

His set shot ball drop is a bit high for mine.

Can't complain about the accuracy though.

Disappointed with the score .

Happy with the result.

Don't like the bottom feeders being within 12 goals.

#Ruthless.

Carlton has Cripps as their only best 22 not playing. We didn't have Tyson, Kent, Jetta, Frost, Garlett and Watts.

Let that soak in.

They were terrible today although I don't think it's an Indication of how poor they might be this season.

I'm definitely hoping it is.

Just got back from the game...we looked a class above Carlton and didn't have to really get out of 2nd gear to dispatch them. Petracca wow what a player, thanks St Kilda!

Pedo is handy. Not sure about the other two. Hoping Trenners has finally found some pace/agility after getting a full pre season in.

That was the worst margin we should have won by.  It felt like a 100 point dominance.

Happy with 54 myself.

Had we beaten them by that much last time we played them then a place in the finals would have been on the line in round 23.

No way Melksham displaces Jetta. Jetta is a better defender by far, and better/smarter ball user. And harder at it. Hibberd I like

Loved that Lewis just played a cameo role.

Liking Omac's development, played a very good game. Much prefer the ball in his hands than his brothers.

We missed some class at ground level in the forward line. Need Garlett/Kent fit and firing.

Oliver, Salem, Hogan and Petracca all outstanding and look in ripping nick.

lol what is Marc Murphy doing fighting Viney? Brock Lesnar v Ronda Rousey.

That was some of the best football I've seen Melbourne play in a very long time.

Practice match or not that was four quarters of sublime football.

As Bear said in Big Wednesday....

Jetta is behind the 8 ball.

I don't need to be sold on his attributes, but my gut feel is that he's going to be in and out in 2017 due to his interrupted preseason.

I think Goody likes Melksham and with Joel Smith able to take the likes of Stringer, Membrey, etc. I have a sense that Jetta is no lock.  Others will naturally be horified.

wtf are these 8 metre Carlton kicks that are being paid.

Not an issue with VicKick standard umpires and VicKick standard players in the whites (thought they used to be called the good old navy blues).

PS CP5 looking friggin awesome.

Okay but only second practice match. Hopefully a taster for the season ahead.

Let's maintain and improve our intensity and dominance in second half of season. No mid to late season burnt out please.

It's as though you're excited that you found something half-worthy of responding to.

As meaningless as it is, well done you. Keep following.

Petracca has been threatening to have a game like that for a long time, could be a Top 5 player in the competition if he fulfils his potential. Not many are capable of 25/5 type games but I can see him getting to that level.

I have better things to do than whinge about umpiring in February but did that female umpire pay us a free kick all game?

Goodwin said in his after match conference that both Kent and Tyson will be available for selection against West Coast.

Petracca though...

Just got home...and wrapt we dominated the 4 quarters.

P5 has just stamped his arrival. This is an indication to the footy public that he's up & about. Which is no surprise To Chris nor his family/supporters.

Can't wait to show the s-ants.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
