His replacement is from the big retailer end of town.

If you are a supplier to the AFL get ready to be screwed like never before.

He has been the chief of the most ruthless group of companies ever to grace the Australian landscape.

The Players association is about to find out what tough is, they have been dealing with [censored] up to now by comparison.

Good. Never liked the man,

I do like that his replacement isn't an ex player, no doubt still one of the boys though.

Agree with your second point.  If there's one thing the last five years has shown us is that 'the boys club' doesn't work in a modern professional sporting code.  The "but he's a good bloke..." excuses need to be done away with.

Let retired players take up commentary and let other run the comp.

I would love to have seen the soon to be unemployed Ben McDevitt take the reigns! Oh how the boys club would have shrieked and wailed!

They actually offered the job to Eddie but he resigned, thought it might cramp his style

Fitzpatrick was rowing for Yarra Yarra, (when I used to hang out at the club) and was a good bloke, lots of tall poppy comments here I reckon. And I've never forgotten those almighty taps from the ruck, forward to the edge of the square during the Grand Finals he played in, went alright. Good luck to him, I always thought he had the love of the game first.

Love how he is saying the AFL should have put rules in place to stop the use of peptides to protect the players. I may be missing something but weren'tthe players banned 12 months ago for breaking the rules around which peptides were banned? Wouldn't that indicate that there were rules in place?

Surely not the AFL's fault the players didn't take their responsibilities seriously.

And don't forget the memorable vital kick he had for his new club, just before they delisted him.   Or the tunnel ball :-)

The guy was at helm during the most successful decade in the competitions history. Yes, you can criticize him for the essendon drug scandal however results speak for themselves.

Record crowds, billion dollar tv deals and expansion into western Sydney and GC.

He has accomplished more in his life than most will ever do.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
