Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How did Kurz cope with that? It's not a natural substance, you know, even blow flies won't go near it...

well it's not for eating, diets. btw neither is ice natural.  mortein will do the trick with blowies but unfortunately it too is not natural. co2 however is natural.

Slavery ?

That's a laugh.  It was the Democrats who kicked and screamed and opposed Lincoln all the way.  The Democrats are the party that wanted to retain slavery.

And no, the electoral college vote is a very good system.  Do some research before mouthing off.

Apparently this still needs to be debated. In the early 1960s, the conservative party of today were known as the Democrats and vice versa, but the party affiliations flipped, though the people remain the same. The passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was the catalyst to converting the Deep South from Democrats to the Republican Party. Pure ignorance.

As for the electoral college, it's a ridiculous system. Amazingly, I believe it should be the popular vote. That is democracy and the undebatable truest reflection of what the people want. You don't place a higher importance on certain individuals' votes. That's not democracy.

Democracy is - "a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives". If certain votes count more than others, you can't have a "system of government by the whole population", you have a government elected by a section of the population. Where people live shouldn't matter.

And I'm sorry, but I don't believe GDP growth in urban areas is a good argument for keeping the college system. Every state has elected officials that should look out for the needs of their own constituency. If they fail this, that's the failure of those politicians, not the system. Whereas, the college system gives free shots to the South.

The Flynn story won't be going away in a hurry - and what better way to follow the exposé than through the investigative reporting of the Washington Post ...

Flynn departure erupts into a full-blown crisis for the Trump White House

Quote

Current and former U.S. officials have said, however, that much of the conversation was about sanctions and that Flynn suggested that Moscow not respond in kind to the expulsions — advice that Russian President Vladimir Putin took in declining to take retaliatory action.

Quote

After discussing the situation throughout the weekend at Trump’s Florida resort, a final decision was made Monday night by Trump, along with Priebus and senior advisers Bannon and Jared Kushner, to tell Flynn to resign, officials said.

That is a notably different version of events than the one offered Monday night, when administration officials characterized Flynn’s departure as voluntary.

The story probably dies if there can be no proven link from Trump to Flynn with regards to what was said to the Russians.  It's worth noting that Flynn may well be called upon to give details of what he said to the Russians and he won't want to leave anything out (or lie)

Just saying, as they say. It's a grand hypothesis, don't you think? Blame it all on the friggin olive trees planted in Australia recently, and the alpacas and the grape vines. It's certainly not car emissions, couldn't be, we've had cars since 1910.

I think we're onto something Twitter, we've solved the climate change debate. It's the olive oil magnates that have screwed us!!!

Having said that, you'll probably not agree because most Olive Oil Magnates aren't Muslims.

Let's face it, it's good to have an opinion in the kitchen based on, shall we say, traditional virtues? Where can traditional virtue be found these days? These days so-called feminists don't even know how to boil a spud, let alone plug in a toaster. As the preacher said in Ecclesiastes, all is vanity and a striving after wind. There is nothing new under the sun. In other words, feminists have been around since time inmanmorial.

Of course. Why would everyone's vote counting matter in a democracy?

You call the electoral college a "very good system", but provide no evidence to back that up. Almost as if your opinion is worth more than everyone else's and facts alone.

But that is the MO of the far right, as is descending into name calling, instead of trying to have a proper debate.

For a guy who is one of the most thoughtful footballing observers, you clearly have no time for it in your politics.

I'm not going to waste too much time debating an hysterical far- left buffoon for two reasons.  It's an utter waste of time and Choke has already provided comprehensive reasons as to why the system works.

Besides, what's the point of arguing over the system that was in place and won't be changing ?  Talk about an exercise in futility.

You rabid climate alarmists, border- free, safe-space, high taxing, lazy socialists can keep whining for the next 8 years.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
