Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

    Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

    Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

    We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

    However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

    The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

    Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

    We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

    WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

    Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Okay, I've created the league. Link is below.

First priority is for past players. I would prefer to cap at 12 players, but I think we had 14 last year. If we get to 14 I would prefer to reduce the squad size. If somebody can notify the regulars, that would be great.

I will need some guidance in setting up the scoring. The available categories are: scoreboard impact, goal kicking accuracy, kicks, handballs, marks, hit outs, tackles and free kick differential (I am ignoring free kicks for and against). We can then give each category a weighting.

My personal draft preference is to draft during business hours, but I know that doesn't suit most people. I propose Sunday 19 March at 8pm for the draft.

Thanks, Peter.

Great Work Pete

I have joined.. I have just returned from OS this week, once I hit the weekend I will put together my thoughts on the scoring categories for 2017.... I think we had it pretty spot on in 2016 but will revisit & throw it open for discussion.

OMR ?

i will be away from early may with no return date in sight, december looking most likely. With this being the case, I think it would lead to me being consistently uncompetitive at some stage throughout the competition and therefore i will opt out for this year I think. It has been fun and il look to put my hand up next year if a spot pops up because its been a blast.

OK just checked, we have 9 Teams sitting in the comp currently.

I can't see Scarlett or Melissa?

Robbo 24 is Snomed definitely joining? With these 3 we would have 12 & a full comp.

Demon King V 2 are you in? If so under what team name?

Once we have the numbers we can get on with finalising the scoring catergories then onto Draft night on Sunday 19th March......

FYI re scoring, was happy with last years, but also happy for it to change.

I was happy with scoring set up last year too?

From memory the set up was

*Scoreboard Impact = 5

* Kicks, Handballs = 4

* Marks, Hit outs, Tackles = 3

* Spoils = 2

* Free Kick Difference = 1

Totalling 25

Open for discussion lads, however we need to agree quickly on scoring so we can all draft to best advantage in these catergories ????

I see we have 12 teams locked in. Is that everybody we were expecting to sign up? I would prefer not to increase the league size, but will do so if some regulars have missed out.

Spoils doesn't seem to be an available category unless you pay to upgrade. Not sure if they have changed this from last year, or if someone paid to upgrade.

Hey Pete

Yeah I think we are good with the 12

MM is out & Robbo 24 returns? The only team we haven't heard from is Turducken Slammers from 2016. He was a great comp member, he used to write great weekly summaries, however haven't seen him around for ages... Spoils was a good category, how much is the upgrade? Looking forward to next Sunday nights draft.. Any questions from any of the newbies about scoring or draft night? ?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

    Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

    TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

    The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

    It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

    There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
