Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

CASEY DEMONS 2017 NEWS

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

The coming week is going to be big for the Casey ? Scorpions with the AFL National and Rookie Drafts likely to claim as many as three players - Declan Keilty, Tim Smith and Oscar McInerney.

That hasn't prevented the Scorpions from moving ahead with their recruiting plans for next year and beyond.

The club has recruited Noble Park midfielder and 2016 Eastern Football League Young Gun winner Ben Giobbi whose brother Andrew played with Frankston until the Dolphins were dumped from the VFL due to their financial crisis.

Paul Amy of Leader Newspapers is reporting that highly rated exiting Dandenong Stingray Bailey Morrish training at Casey Scorpions after surprisingly being overlooked in the rookie draft.

Our listing of 2 Scorps in the rookie draft would have raised eyebrows KC.

Smart move by all concerned, as it makes Casey appear to be a pathway to AFL seniors.

KC have always appreciated your efforts and reports. Ive never quite worked out whether this arrangement is the best option for us ( MFC ) but it is what we have and I sense a new beginnings between the MFC and Scorps occurred last season with Plapp coming on board.

I truly think its marvelous that come shopping time we DIDNT overlook our own back yard and smile to think some hard working industrious types with good footy abilities have been given the leg up form Casey to Melbourne. Well done and plaudits all around.

Now there's greater harmony re game styles and direction between the two clubs this might result in even greater synergies than we saw in 2016

We once had great times with the Zebbies . I think we may now be embarking on a similar duet with Casey.

Good luck in 2017...all in the family as they say

Do you have any inside info on a possible Scorps relocation to ..... err ..say Romsey?

A forward recce party was indeed sent. Alas having swept the area twice with no discernible signs of meaningful life the investigation was given away. News did come late to hand that a rumbling in the vales was noted but it turned out to be the reverberations of a snoring sloth. Hope no one disturbed you.

Meanwhile back in downtown Cranbourne celebrations are continuing with rumours spreading of the idea of raising filled balloons in the image of that Hades Helmsman Himself in celebratory thanks for rising of the Devil    aka...the Demons are coming !!

Does anyone know whether Hamish Brayshaw has to play for the Sandringham VFL because he played for the Dragons or if Casey can recruit him?

As far as I know he can play wherever he wants after his under 18 year if not drafted to an AFL club.

There is a rough association of players from TAC Clubs with VFL Clubs but players are not strictly bound e.g. quite a few Gippsland Power players who work or study in the city have been playing with clubs other than Casey.

I expect that Brayshaw will go to the Dragons because he lives close by but who knows?

With Frankston in recess this year, some more Dandenong Stingrays should join Casey but there would only be a limited number of places available for TAC Cup kids with one less VFL club in the area - The Dandenong Stingrays are ‘dumbfounded’ Bailey Morrish was overlooked in the rookie draft

Yours too BBO. The relocation to Romsey was under close consideration for some time but the President discovered he had an allergy to llamas and the move was shelved.

The 2017 VFL fixture was announced last week and I also dealt with in the AGM thread.

We will now be the Casey Demons and to conform with the new identity, I will be appropriately changing the title of this thread to "Casey Demons 2017 News".

"Jackson said the club had been in discussions with VFL affiliate the Casey Scorpions about playing as the Casey Demons in 2017.

Casey is expected to wear Melbourne colours in the VFL next season.

'We've been in discussions with the Casey Scorpions to amend out alignment agreement with them, which was a 10-year agreement that runs until the end of 2018,' Jackson said.

'We expect in 2017 that we'll change the name of the VFL team to the Casey Demons and play in the Melbourne jumper.'

Demons CEO Jackson earns contract extension

And in other news, former small man Mitch Gent looks like returning to the fold in 2017.

Interesting that Casey have so many night games.  Astounding really.  It's a poor viewing ground already and the lights make it even harder. Perhaps the wind doesn't blow as hard at night.  Hope those with younger and sharper eyes can let us know what's happening.

Peter Jackson and Josh Mahoney just seem to keep ticking boxes.  All power to Peter recognizing Josh's ability.  Josh has been with us from day one of the Bailey era.  To survive and thrive is quite something.

I asked about this last year and was told it had to do with fitting in with the local football teams. By playing at night, the Scorpions would not be taking people away from the local community clubs and vice versa although I note that the crowds at the night games didn't appear to be much greater if at all as a result.

With the advent of the Casey Demons and the wearing of the club's traditional colours, I think it might become easier to make out who the players are. This would be helped if MFC players were able to wear their normal jumper numbers irrespective of whether they're in the AFL or the VFL.

I hope someone makes the suggestion to Peter Jackson. After all, he's not only our CEO but they've named the "Peter Jackson VFL" after him ?

Whenever my beloved Norwood come up against the 2 imposters, Crows & Power in the SANFL comp, booing the AFL players is made easier by the fact they wear their listed jumper #

Both clubs have non-listed players who I actually find difficult to dislike due to the fact they are just young blokes having a red hot crack...

I understand that the passionate Casey supporters may not be overly impressed with the decision to change jumpers but surely they must understand that Melbourne has helped grow the club, and the game, in the region and Premierships tend to cancel out any dislike anyway

Not sure this is practical - unless Casey- listed players number from 50 onwards - as Melbourne players do now.

Perhaps a long term possibility-- but might be one blow too many to the Casey  roots of the affiliation to do it now.

So, this change of name brings with it various challenges - one of them which is significantly important, is the Club song.

If you aren't familiar with it, click on the link. What do you reckon? Mention of red white and blue in the lyrics.... should be fine if they play in our clash guernsey all of the time.

Casey (Scorpions) Club song

Can the tune of a "Grand old Flag' be adopted and massaged a little to capture the Springvale history, which I think is the only consideration.

Why?

The Springvale history has just had the last nail. I don't think the Hawks have any reference to the Mustangs in their song even though they are more closely aligned to the original club.

Might be wrong but...

It's already been noted that the Springvale history will be acknowledged on the playing jumper.

For that reason, it would be a consideration in any new club song.

Port Melbourne already has Grand Old Flag as their song so its not gonna happen.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
