Very light.

He was probably very intoxicated. Was stupid in his driving, allegedly doing donuts. Caused damage to 4 cars. Then ran away. Not too many redeeming features.

I suspect there is more to go on this.

How come it took Port officials 8 - 12 hours to get him to the cop shop?

I smell another GWS cover up here but will the AFL investigate ?

I suspect only if the media come up with some evidence.

Port has just suspended Jarman Impy for the first round, after smashing into 4 cars and leaving the scene, having a team mate in the car as a passenger and following a bout of drinking all afternoon. One could reasonably infer that he was attempting to avoid a breath or blood test.

Port deemed that as a one game suspension and fine.

Given that, if we are concerned with a fair punishment, Oliver should not miss a game, but rather be fined, or given another penalty that doesn't involve a suspension..

Why is Jarman Whimpey being mentioned in the same column as Clarry Choo Choo?? Mods, needs another thread!! Dont need Clarry being looked at in the same light as Jarman Whimpey!! ????

i didn't know it was port's responsibility to do the cop's job

as long as they weren't hiding him or encouraging him to hide

he technically wasn't a fugitive

anyway, i don;t think the courts have handed out their punishments yet (assuming cops charge him). he might cop a fair whack yet.

The Adelaide media seem to be trying that.

But I don't think clubs have any responsibility to turn a player in. The can't impede an investigation, that's all. Getting him a lawyer who then suggested to wait until the morning sounds fair enough to me.

Especially if you are within the time limit for breath or blood testing.

The Port Adelaide situation is a farce. 1 game what a joke.

I bet my left one that Impey was s high as a kite as well as being drunk. He took out 4 cars and bolted 17k's away!!!

Clarrie should be taken quietly to the Alfred Trauma Center for a couple of Saturday nights to watch who is admitted.

I'm not betting with you, SWYL.  I value my left one a lot higher than yours, and quite frankly, I have no interest in receiving yours should you lose the bet.

Punishment has come from the club, Clarry fined a 4 figure sum, required to attend road safety education and also organise an expert to come and talk to the group about the dangers of drink driving and the link to road trauma.

Well handled I'd say.

Details on club website. Seems a fair punishment. I like that it puts the onus on Clarry to go out and sort things for himself, although knowing AFL players the manager will do it for him!

The most interesting bit is that they left a fair clip towards young Clarry in the penultimate paragraph.

Gee DS, will have to get you to chat to the players more often, if he even tried that I know the rest of the squad would be less than impressed, they take the 'fines' for 'small' misdemenours within the squad seriously as well

HaHaHa! had forgotten about "Mr Chair"

If Impey was seriously drunk there is no way he could have "Run, Walked or jogged" 17 k's. He would have curled up under a tree for a sleep long before he made that distance.

To make 17 k's after a big session he had other things as well in his system i believe, but will it be fully investigated...?

I think we have handled this like we have handled everything lately, with a minium of fuss, we can now move on

When I was chatting to Clarry about his illness/fitness last week, without prompting he brought the issue up and said he had been an idiot, said it to two of us, didn't put it in the training report at the time

Maybe he took an uber?

Does it matter if he was high on drugs or alcohol. If he was intoxicated he was intoxicated, does it matter what the substance was? Either way, if he was drinking alcohol with energy drinks you can get pretty drunk without passing out or taking anything else. Crazier things have happened than someone crashes a car and taking off running just on alcohol.

Doesn't really bother me what he was on. If someone crashes in to my car and injures property or worse a person then I don't care if they are drunk or drugged. Both should be treated basically the same in my opinion.

Yep, AFL players are young and have cash to splash. That said, plenty of uni students, apprentice tradies or factory workers at the same age have done the same thing.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
