We've moved on from using different numbers and we're now dyeing their hair... Such footy department advancements!

Wait till we start bandaging up the wrong limb like Ling Jong. That is genius.

As one who has consumed the odd Bintang I can tell you it is hard to drink faster than you can sweat in Bali. I reckon my arms had a nice foamy head at times. So no problems for Petracca, he'll come back mean and lean and ready to go.

I was looking for a bite from someone else.

It was a tongue in cheek comment.

That is always a problem when you go fishing. But I will take your dollar.

All jokes aside, there are pictures and reports all over the net with the players  hard at work already, think Roos last message sank in

Hoping Hibberd and Milkshake are going extra hard and don't expect to walk up to the team. By the looks of it the existing guys are embracing the greatness quote (can't remember it exactly) Roos left them with. I just worry about those guys that haven't played or had regimented training for 12 months.

I ride past AAMI / Anderson St each day on way to work. I've seen Melksham 3-4 times doing some very hard running, repeat 250's and sprints up Anderson St - all on his own. Am sure their are many doing it, but he looks very lean and fit.

Petracca is still on the Bintangs over in Bali with only a couple of weeks until PS training starts.

Should've got his beer drinking over with weeks ago.

What's the bet he comes back out of shape and behind the standard expected?

One would think he learnt his lesson last preseason and would follow coaching and fitness staffing instructions!

If he comes back out of shape, it will be interesting to see if he has to serve time at Casey again as a 'lesson'.  Roos had no qualms about doing that last year.

I believe we are absolutely burning up the track and it is the hardest preseason we have ever done.

and Colin Sylvia is preparing for his first full preseason after which he will win the Downlow (formerly known as the Brownlow until the AFL allowed Jab to keep his).

It was the 14th of September,  according to the Hun. For everyone but Jobe and Fletcher

"All on his own". That is instructive. Coming from a background in an individual sport, it has always amazed me how "herd like" AFL players can be in their pre-season training. However, it is the willingness of individual players to do things outside or away from the pack that can make a big difference. In short, to be self motivated and not just do what everyone else is doing on the training track. Remember watching the Hawks training pre-season many years ago and noticing that there were the pack animals and a minority of players who took it upon themselves to warm up, run laps etc before the fitness guy turned up with his whistle. No surprise that this minority were all great players, Michael Tuck being at the top of the list. Now Melksham may never be a great player but it is a good sign that he is going the extra yard.

I was told Viney did a mountain of work before he was required back at the club last year. He then became one of the better runners throughout pre-season and obviously it catapulted him into the season.

He is simply that determined. Just like our skipper.

You can always tell who has done pre-pre season work. And I'm hoping Salem, Brayshaw, Petracca and Oliver all come back ahead of what would be deemed as 'acceptable' condition come the end of November.

I agree Ernest, so long as it hasn't very recently dawned on Melksham that he has a hell of a lot of catching up to do before he fronts up for pre season.

Oh! God, hope he's not over there with Bucks, he's an ex Collingwood supporter and might be convinced to cross over with Howe.

I've started reading your posts as my preseason training heats up. I'm ripped to shreds Big Fella, just waiting for the sun to kick the tan in and I'll be flying.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
