Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What an amazing opportunity, if the AFL squibs on this, for every living Brownlow meadalist to stand up and hand back their medals. Someone has to teach the AFL about integrity. If Watson keeps his medal, the Brownlow is forever tarnished and discredited. I can't believe it would come to this but what a remarkable slap in the face it would be to the AFL!

They are shameless. Would they even notice?

Now if a sponsor said they're disgusted and are pulling their dollars .........

would be poignant and catalytic should even one Brownlow winner take this stance and call the AFL to task. I would hope at least one might.

Judd would be the most likely I would think

I'm not a fan of the way the AFL do business but would be more than very surprised if Jobe gets to keep his Brownlow.

I just think it's Dill 'the likeable' and Mike 'leave the room' hoping that he will absolve them of responsibility and hand it back.

So Gil, let's imagine Caleb Daniels grows 30cm this year and muscles up to weigh 101kg and next season becomes the best CHF the game has seen kicking 152 goals. He goes on to win the Brownlow and Coleman medals, years down the track after he explodes on dancing with the stars, his biological passport is retested to find he has been using NASA-9064, a synthetic not approved for human use rocket fuel.

Because he was not banned during the season does he keep his medals? Come on Gil it is not a trick question, does he keep his medals?

This is so blindingly obvious that the AFL is sure to stuff it up.

A boycott of next year's awards by players might make them take notice. If I was a Brownlow medalist I would not want to be in the same room as Jobe Watson nor have anything to do with supporting the AFL at their gala event. I really don't understand how these people can't see that their actions are akin to defecating on the memory of Chas Brownlow. Even having to take this much time over something so clear cut is beyond me.

Perhaps James Hird could lead the way on this...

The "memory of Chas Brownlow"? Who knows anything about him?

The "memory of Chas Brownlow"? Who knows anything about him?

He was important enough to have had the medal named in his honour. Just because his story is not widely known does not mean his memory should be denigrated.

Besides, he had a killer mustache.

If the AFL decides to remove the medal, they will advise Jobe in advance, so he is very likely to then beat them to it and 'voluntarily' hand it back.

I'm not sure why the Brownlow question is even being asked. In any sport, if you're found guilty of a doping infringement, you lose all victories, awards and prize money for the period when you were found to be doping.

Watson imho has no integrity at all. Should he hand it back it most likely will be as a result of the AFL giving him a heads up ( as is their style) and saving himself further embarassment.

Apples dont fall far from trees.

It is regrettable that this is another fallout from this debacle.

while the decision may be difficult for Jobe to undertake with the rabid protestation of his dad it is nonetheless the only thing he can do. Jobe did do homself some credit in acknowledging early in the piece that he had taken some indetermined supplements so he may be convinced to make the connection.

Not hopeful though.

I can understand this in theory. But handing it back before all legal avenues have been finalised could be perceived as an admission of guilt, irrespective of what words he uses as part of any such process.

He should...SHOULD view it as whilst under investigation, even when THE judgement was given as an appropriate time to offer it back (without prejudice or admissions ) pending final outcome.

But, hey hes just another druggie in Sport with no scruples.

I reckon Jobe was given a nod and a wink by the AFL early on in the saga that the Charlie was not at risk. That they'd pull strings, get the players off, voila, Charlie is a non issue.

Now, the delay is all about how they reconcile that with the players going down and all avenues of appeal exhausted.

Imagine if a p!ssed off Jobe went public...

It's hilarious that they play Hawthorn in round one. Could you possibly ask for a less timid, vocal and arrogant opposition crowd to "celebrate" the return of your guilty, convicted drug cheats against? They will be booing in full force.

Let's not forget the Sam Mitchell incident, and the fact your drug cheating captain cost him a Brownlow! It will be ten times worse if he isn't stripped of it!

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
