Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable carnival, i thought it was great. Pity about the weather for the crowds. Well down i believe. Thanks for all the support on the thread.

The racing season never really stops for me Wadda but I do scale things back to a point where I mainly follow the Group racing only ... and as well as Sandown next week there's a number of Group1,  G2 & G3 races at Ascot leading up to the new year culminating in the Perth Cup to be run on the 5th of January.

The lesser focus between seasons appeals and it's a lot less overwhelming which also suits.  Ballarat Cup is in 2 weeks as well as the 2 new $1Miilion dollar races out of Newcastle & Kembla Grange over the next 2 weekends.  And in the New Year the Magic Millions rolls around again.

I'll keep posting up a few previews and replays until the Autumn comes around just out of interest.  Much as I like a bet I'm an absolute horse racing enthusiast much like many are footy fans 24/7.  I watch all the shows,  the podcasts & radio coverage - the works.  Sports betting is ok but it's not all that conversational.  To me racing is King.

Yes well said Macca and its been great fun and your insight into the sport has been a welcome bonus. I am going to Indo this week, so will be pretty busy with other things. I will try to get a handle on the Ballarat Cup and see if i hear any whispers. I had a number of good wins over the carnival mainly multis and trifectas, so i am happy with that and mainly played with house money by the time we got to Flemington, with a lot still in the kitty.

The picks were always good and we had many results as a team. I will keep an eye on the thread from time to time so post away and will def be back to join the team in the Autumn.

I've got a mate who follows racing closer than I do yet he doesn't bet on the horses.  So for some there's a genuine fanatacism where for others the gambling element is the main focus thus they probably need to take a break.

For myself,  I often need a complete break from the footy.  For the 6 months in the off-season I'm really only interested in who we've recruited or if we're losing a decent player or 2.

But I'm a percentage punter with regards to the horses and I risk very little in the process.  I get a lot of small collects doing exacta's primarily but there's always the chance to win a substantial amount with the right combination - got a few nice collects yesterday as a consequence.  So the high's are great and the low's are often inconsequential.

I'm having a few bets today but again, feature races only involved (Ararat Cup,  China Bowl (Ararat) and 2 Group races up in Singapore) ... Willie Pike & Craig Williams are riding up in Singapore today too - much in demand those 2!

And we can expect to see Hugh Bowman & JMac for the 2 upcoming feature days up in Hong Kong (Nov 17,  Dec 8 )

I usually do spring carnival and the odd race here and there. Always have some on Brownlow, NFL SB and AFL GF.

As I stated about I’d love to do a few more exotic multis for NFL etc

May look into getting an account just for the winnings I have from the spring carnival.

Im glad you had some winners Goro. I started the betting account this year. Its so much better the running to the TAB all the time and thus avoiding the Walk of Shame. (now its just click the button shame). I think theyre actually better cause you can keep track of your total spend etc. You can always cancel it later if it doesnt appeal.

I have heard you cant get a housing loan until you havent had one for 3 years though. Not sure how true that is.

And Craig Williams duly gets Mr Clint over the line in the Million dollar Gold Cup up in Singapore.  His only ride for the day by the looks of it.  That's about $30k for Craig (plus the sling)  Nice work if you can get it!

I get that. For me it was always about the horses. Love the bloody things. Betting, even racing was an extension of that. Still is.

Back when I was a punter I resisted the temptation to get a phone account. I figured if I really wanted to back something I'd get off my arze and head to the tote. If I couldn't do that I shouldn't be betting on it. The worst year I had was when I was working in a building with a TAB on the ground floor. Pretty much bet every lunchtime. Betting from boredom. So I figured I knew what would happen if I got a phone account.

As I told Macca, I haven't bet in years but that's more a CBF thing. I've got no objection to anyone punting. Started betting with my old man when I was 7 years old. But if I got me an online betting account, I know I'd be betting without conviction again. You gotta do the form & bet according to your analysis. You're backing yourself as much as the horses. I watch my daughter's mates, beer in one hand, phones in the other betting on dumb stuff like next goal kicker in a footy game. Come quarter time they've blown forty bucks just by clicking a button. I shake me head. That's not punting, it's donating

The racing continues on at Sandown this Saturday along with a couple of feature races at Newcastle which includes the inaugural running of the $1Million Hunter Stakes - good field assembled too.

The Summer carnival at Ascot kicks off this weekend too with 3 x Group 3 races as well as another listed race.

Couple of feature races happening tomorrow ... both good betting races too if you reckon either or both favourite's can be beaten.

But on Sunday we've got 4 big Group 1 races out of Sha Tin.  4 top class fields with lots of familiar names.  Racing for a total of $17.48Million (AUD)

Lots of Australian representation with a number of the Thoroughbreds being Australian bred

Quite a few Jockeys & Trainers hail from Australia as well.  But there's a real international flavour at the meeting with horses brought down from Japan & Europe to compete.

2019 Arima Kinen

Thanks for posting Biff, been extremely busy with work and haven’t seen a lot of racing the last few weeks. Wow....that was a spectacular win.

That was her last ever start?

A few decent races coming up tonight and over the weekend acting as a bit of a preview to the Autumn

Here are some races to look out for - the Australia Stakes is to be run at 9.30pm tonight and the race has attracted a decent field ... 'Hey Doc' & 'Scales of Justice' have drawn the 2 inside gates so the race will be on early.  'Begood Toya Mother' & 'Microphone' should be on the speed as well.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
