Strange, wasn't Chaplin a defender? Anyway, welcome Troy.

Often defenders end up becoming offensive coaches as they have studied how to nulify offensive running patterns etc. Happens in various sports

2 Jade Rawlings' are better than 1?

Apparently a smart player who has worked hard in preparing for coaching. His boss at the Oakleigh Chargers is our women's/development coach so he'd know whether he is impressive or not.

Job titles are overrated, although I do have concerns that we are hiring a player from one of the worst ball movement teams in the league to have a role in that.

That said, Tiger fans say Chaplin was vital in the development of Rance who is a one man wrecking ball of a zone defender.

Correct me if i am wrong but the current coaching group is now

Simon Goodwin - Senior Coach

Craig Jennings - Education coordinator

Brendan McCartney- Player and coach performance coordinator

Mathew Egan - Head of development

Jade Rawlings - Defensive coordinator

Dan Mcpherson - i thought he was offensive coordinator?

Ben Mathews - Midfield & Stoppage coach

Greg Stafford - Ruck coach

Troy Chaplin - Offensive coordinator

Looks a very strong group to me, four coaches who have coached their own team.

Yeah, I would assume that Dan McPherson might be show the door.

Truth be told, some new ideas in our forward line would be most welcome.

One day somebody will publish job descriptions for each of these positions and we will learn how they all fill in their day. We must be getting close to the point where each player has his own coach.

Hmmmmm... not thrilled with this appointment tbh. He handled his departure from Port Adelaide very poorly. Hopefully he's matured significantly since then...

Im hopefull that Chaplins relationship with Vickory is strong - send jake and anb over to the tiges for a genuine 200 cm foward / ruck .

Vickory has been held back from the ruck at the tiges - played his underage as a ruckman so why not as a second to gawn . Can box a bit too would make a few stand taller .

I am not a fan of huge coaching groups, and hopefully we will see a day when there are only five: head coach, development coach, forward, mids, backs. I understand the need for an older mature head but I can't understand why that can't be the devlopment coach. From my limited insight gained only from reading various things, Chaplin is respected and has always been touted as a coach, I am just unconvinced we need to pay someone good coin to coordinate the forwards, alongside the forward coach.

Maybe his role includes a new emphasais on sledging - so when our boys have a go at a galumphing dick like Brendon Goddard or Heath Shaw, it will be pre-organsied and really effective.

Look forward to working with you Red, i've been appointed director of drinking and shenanigans, really keen to develop some really unhealthy habits within the club and hopefully set us up for a period of sustained memory loss and inebriation

There are also the Casey coaches (and the Women's team), all of which are either on the MFCFD payroll or aligned/integrated with our coaches philosophy!

Even if he hasn't a strong relationship with Vickory, let's hope that he has one with Ty Vickery!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
