Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Please forgive the boozy nature of what follows. I can't remember the last time I started a thread and now seemed as good a time as any.

Last week I spoke about the conflicting emotions of jealousy and hope that I was feeling post the Bulldogs Preliminary final win. I feel very similar now. The Bulldogs deserved everything that came their way today and I feel genuinely happy for their loyal members. But it's hard to escape the inescapable; it wasn't us. When the Swans broke through in 2005, I was hopeful but certainly not confident that one day it might be us. And over the horrendous decade that followed, I remained hopeful but far from convinced I'd ever witness what the Doggies faithful witnessed today. But as the final quarter ticked by today and the realisation emerged that a huge premiership drought was to be broken, I was overly jealous but instead excited. We have a young list that has premiership quality stamped all over it. We have a stable football department with a crystal clear vision of how we're going to rise to the top of the ladder. We have an administration that is equally stable and committed to providing the players with an elite environment and the funds necessary to compete with the best. We have a coach that appears to have won over the playing list and is respected within the industry. We're in for a hell of a ride. And if the playing group hang together and Goodwin lives up to the hype and we have a fair portion of luck then we'll be competing with the Western Bulldogs, GWS and Sydney for premierships in the very near future.

So for the optimists and dreamers and the lovers of this club like me, I'd like to ask the simple question; what will you do? Fast forward 12 months, 2 years or 5 or 6 or how ever long it takes and picture Jonesy or Viney or Gus or someone we haven't met yet holding up the premiership cup and tell me what happens next. Where do we celebrate? How do we celebrate? Will the Demonland community come together in the wee hours of the night and share in the celebrations? What exactly will a modern day Melbourne premiership mean to you?

Other than family health, EVERYTHING.

I love a film called 'Almost Famous' and there's a beautiful scene at the end of the film when the central protagonist finally interviews the lead guitarist of the band he's been following across America and he opens the interview by asking, "What do you love about music?" And the response is, 'To begin with . . . . everything". Kind of sums up how I'd feel after a MFC Premiership too Red.

As for dreaming, I have just been reflecting on what happened in the three years after the Bulldogs won their last premiership.

May history repeat itself.

Now that really is dreaming Dockett.

For Gods sake don't wake up.

I think a Melbourne flag would feel different for Melbourne fans than a Dogs flag feels to Dogs fans.

For us, it would be vindication. "We're back where we belong!" There's more tradition there.

For the Dogs, it's more like, "WE'VE DONE IT!"

Both are I imagine would be a feeling of relief.

Am I making sense or am I way too drunk for my own good?

I believe you were thinking of this little piece of magic but would you believe the name of the director?

I was bought to tears watching the doggies post match, I will be a total basket case the day the Dee's Win our next Flag and I have a very good feeling about our current situation with Administration, FD, Supporters and List, just need to fill a couple of more spots and get Hogan in alignment with the rest of the team and we could be anything...!!!

PS( I think that Tom Boyd answered his detractors yesterday as well, could easily have been the Norm Smith Medallist today)

I would think a lot about my father, who was the reason I follow the Dees. He moved to Melbourne from Bendigo for work in 1965 bringing his young family with him. He followed the Dees faithfully for 30 years without success (although 1987 and 1988 were better years than most) and died in 1995. Given it will be at least 22 years since then before we salute again, that is a lot of family history to have passed. I am sure I will yell and scream when the siren goes, but after that it will be a few weeks of quiet satisfaction and reflection ...

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
