This is great news. Dom had a good year and I reckon the next three will be better. It would be nice if Jesse did the right thing and followed suit.

Good to sign another talented young midfielder up. He was really good in the s come hakf of this year, back to his 2014 form. He's a valuable player for us going forward.

Love the line in the release 'that he wants to play the rest of his career with Melbourne'

Just need Hogan to follow and it will be an amazing start to the off-season

23 years old, and I reckon he's yet to hit his best footy, in a good midfield he will be a reliable A grade player.

Great work on resigning Dom!

Bring it on!!!

Don't understand why he's not more highly rated.

Treloar and Tyson are an interesting comparison - former rated as one of the best young mids in the competition, the latter a solid journeyman...underservedly so in my book.

Treloar is ahead in terms of possession gathering and is flashier. I think that's why he gets the accolades in comparison to the slower Tyson. Treloar moves a lot like Judd, but I'd back Tyson to win a contested clearance before Treloar. Tyson's ceiling is higher IMO, but both are very good players.

Tyson has a lot of Joey Kennedy about him 'A F'...

I would agree with that. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Roos had modelled our midfield on Sydney's. Tyson (Kennedy), Viney (K Jack), Jones (Hannebery) and sounds like we were/are into Mitchell as well. Petracca gives us something a little different from the Sydney midfield. That bit of x-factor. And then obviously there's Brayshaw, Salem and possibly the best of them all, Oliver. That's an exciting midfield.

I think we should be going after top mids in that 23-27 age bracket for the next 5-6 years, but we should also continue to build through the draft. If we can nail picks in the second and third rounds of the draft like Sydney have (Hannebery pick 30, Kennedy traded for late picks and Jack taken in the Rookie Draft), that's how we'll have sustained success.

But the most important thing for us to do is to continue to re-sign all our young talent. And this signature from Dom is another show of faith in the direction of the club. Such signatures in the coming few years will eventually snowball into the MFC becoming a desirable destination for prospective players.

Some good comparisons there AF, we just need to keep identifying the talent that is out there and keep improving our list year in and year out. We have the coaching fire power now to actually mould the talent that comes in through the door. There have been a lot of long shots over the years. GO Dee's!!!

Probably won't go down as one of the best GWS-groomed midfielders

He already is, he is criminally underrated.

Opposition supporters know how awesome he is, a lot of Demon fans under appreciate him.

Definitely yet to hit his best footy. Can you imagine when Tyson, Viney, Brayshaw, Stretch, Petracca etc are around the 25-27 mark?

Now that gets me extremely excited.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
