Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Has the talent and the tricks. It’s probably just the shear will and commitment to play AFL that Kobe needs to nail. It would be great to see him in red and blue.

Interested to hear how you know Kobe has the “talent and the tricks” SONS, as he can’t have produced many if he was not selected at the draft.

I too am interested. Especially around the questioning of his committee and shear will to play AFL. Unless he has some evidence back up this questionable claim then I hope he isn't making it up. If I go by his video with his father a year ago, it seems Kobe sounded more then desperate to play AFL and co tinge his father's trait.

Best person to speak to who has actually seen him play in the flesh would be @Pennant St Dee

Wiz Junior!!!

We just have to beat Fremantle Dockers for his services ... Dad is staying out of the decisions ahead regarding 'which' club - Dees or Freo. There is a challenge ahead to secure him using 'father and son' exclusivity so we must hope that as well as increasingly shining in his training and onfield roles, he must be 'won over' to the Red'nBlue ahead of the more localised (for him) enticements from the Dockers. Farmer1 and Jesse, now Farmer2 as well?

We cannot wear that...

He was overlooked in the draft so father-son rule is out the window now.

Can Freo even sign him if hes training with us?

SSP is different, yes freo can offer him a deal and he could sign it but they likely would have invited him to train if they had any firm interest

I'm all for giving him a go if we think there is some talent that may develop late. But as a small forward he is going to start behind:

Kozzie

Spargo

ANB

Bedford

Hunt

Laurie

Bowey

Maybe some of them develop to play HBF, wing, mid, HFF, rather than small forward, and maybe a couple are gone at the end of this year, but there are still a few ahead of him.

I don't think that list of players there is anyone that owns that position.  Pickett showed some glimpses last season the others are either new players or guys that just are there abouts no stand out.

If he is good enough there is a spot for him.  We will find out over time if he is good enough to play at this level, like mist 18 year old players we don't really know if they will make it

very sneaky what you did there. Naming all the players that can play in a pocket. lol

Kozzie and Spargo are the only genuine forward pockets. ANB is a midfielder whose been asked to play half forward. Hunt is in the backline this year. Bedford is not afl standard. Laurie is a midfielder and Bowey is probably going to be a back flanker.

nice try tho!

I think Spargo is also midfielder being made into a small forward. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not ready to write Bedford off. Way too early. I also think Lockhart and Chandler could be worth another chance if they don't make it as defenders. I think Spargo will start to mature into a very different player in the future. He could still be the answer to the other wing spot with his clever ball use. Just needs to get the engine right.

Is this all because someone mistook a 46 for a 48 or am I missing something?

Oh absolutely agree on that. But I would expect all to be ahead of him as of today given that they have been retained on a list with a few years development or were drafted in the top 25 of the draft, while we was passed over by everyone in the draft and as a rookie, and is currently trying for a supplementary spot.

I actually think Kozzie is the only genuine forward pocket there, with Spargo more a half forward (the role ANB has been playing).

Although they are all different players, they are all competing for the same couple of spots in the next year or two. ANB isn't a mid; he wouldn't be a starting mid in any of the 18 clubs. So he is always playing as a small forward, high or deep, doesn't matter. Laurie and Bowey will both start as either a small forward or back, and might work into the midfield. However both played small forward as juniors at times according to draft reports, and for them to push into the midfield or back line they need to push someone out. Hunt played forward last year didn't he? And if we're naming all smaller players at both ends of the ground I should also mention Jetta, Lockhart and Salem.

My point isn't that all are competing for the one role, but that they are all potentials for the couple of small forward positions that exist.

The apparent competition for mobile smalls is a very healthy circumstance for the MFC and if these players are hungry little mongrels raring for a trot on the park with blood, they are most welcome in my mind to live that dream. Each will have to step up a rung or two, toughen up and double their commitment along the way. It does please me that internally, such competition exists in the struggle to find the best two or three of the throng.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
