Ok, can I have Shaw's mouth shut by a knock that doesn't knock him out? And Scully gets distracted by the sound of a jingling bag of coins being shaken by his old man?

Even more colour, cool, keep the reports coming still have 45 minutes at work, all appreciated

Sydney V GWS

Hard to see this game with the stadium half in sun and shade.

When in the sun the colours are hard to pick ..... the AFL need to have a think about their product !!

It is surprising that in 2016 TV technology can't cope with sharp contrasts

And of course the AFL in their infinite wisdom could never force their favorite children to wear crap white, or other alternate strips in their first final

He'll get 2, poor record I'd think DT.

Yup, usual SJ, going to far and it will cost him.

Kennedy back on, very scrappy game now. GWS look like the much better team but can't find a fwd inside 50 this qtr.

Stevie J certainly deserves at least 2 for that dog act, especially given his history, but given his importance to the AFL love child club he will no doubt be free to play

It is just wrong, in the interests of player safety, that Stevie J can in effect head charge into an opponent's midriff and be rewarded with a goal.

This needs to be discouraged, not encouraged.

Someone WILL break their neck one day.  Only then will the usual AFL knee jerk response come into effect.

And another just before half time

So dangerous yet not discouraged in any way.

Who cares? Smith thought it would just happen.

He blew it gloriously

One of the most riveting halves of footy I've ever seen.  Incredible intensity, speed and skills.

Yes but they have to face what all successful teams face, how to keep them all well paid and happy

In the context of three years the irony is that they can stay around on lower salaries , rack up a premiership medal and then still have 3-5 years at another club on top dollar.

Or GWS can do another Treloar... trade one or two for another pick in the top 5.

Has to get one game, as he ran past the ball and took Kennedy out with what I thought was an elbow to the head. It was intentional and high contact and at least medium impact. He will get at least a week.

Oh dear, you really do like wallowing in others misery don't you, what if he kicks the winning goal for a fourth flag, still feel the same

And to think.... GWS will improve over the next 3-5 years !!

Johnson, Patfull, Shaw and Mumford are all over 30 and all played at least 20 games this year.

If they can cope with their loss (especially Mumford) then yeah I agree with you.

And Griffen is 30.

Swannies only 2 points down at the half but with it all to do. Mills hammy, Tippet and Kennedy not 100% after a couple of head knocks each, GWS with so much pace. If they can hit a fwd target it will be a big win for them.

Basil Zemplis (?) looks like a giant goose come to life.

Plenty of tradeable assets to fill those holes, let alone development within the franchise.

Maybe they'll draft Harvey to replace them? He's probably good for another 400 games!

This match will end up as close as last night. Right down to the wire!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
