It would be nice for once just once that we get linked to a big name.

Just once is all I ask.

Brand names can be pretty big.

This would leave Freo with the ability to offer Dee's pick 3 & 7 for Hogan -  and they'd have a fwd line set up for the next decade with Hogan & Patton.

Would certainly give dees something to think about especially as we could lose him for  nothing in 4 years time if free agency compo is removed as spoken about.

Not sure Patton would be keen on going Freo, but maybe he wouldn't mind coming home.

Would we take 3 and Patton for Hogan?

FWIW, Patton just on AFL 360 said he is going nowhere. He is contracted and wants to stay at GWS as he said they have a great future.

If Hogan was deadset keen on leaving........yes.

If Hogan was happy to stay......no

Exactly right BA.

That's why the rumor about us the other week of being into Josh Watts doesn't surprise me either.

We need tall defenders, rucks, ruck/fwd's and outside mids this off season.

What was interesting about the Brand rumour was that the media didn't know who the interested club might be... and as we don't leak....

Well there are rumours JH will be announced on a 4 year deal next week.

But yes, we are much better at keeping matters in house now.

The natives are getting restless at Pie land. Not in any big way, but it's bubbling under. Eddie has been there 21 years, no succession plan, directors aren't elected (they are appointed shortly before an AGM and then get "elected" unanimously because it would be unfair to turf them out so soon), directors are yes-man, the handover from Malthouse to Buckley bungled because Eddie panicked, jobs for the boys. Lots more stuff.

It's growing, but wins on the oval can take away a lot of pressure. More losses, on the other hand ...

it's delicious isnt it.

Had a similar convo the other week with bro-law ( ex pie player ) Res of family all gung ho  Pies Pies Pies...etc.. b-i-l  only one to suggest that Pies will slip..and badly next year. Or to put it another way....run fast on the spot, going nowhere.  An interesting observation was that if Bucks relents and starts bringing in top ups then its an admission that hes not getting the goods out of his current crop...( and NEVER will )

I laughingly put it the Pies are the new successors to Richmond. He thought 9th would be a hard get for the pies next year.. Reckons we should get used to the idea of years of finals.  I replied...DAMN !!  ( smuggly, amongst a sea of cold pastries !! )

7 of today's Swans side and 5 of today's Dogs side were rookies.

My point is you turn over your list with more chances to improve by getting rid of players who cannot assist the list.

Cmon Red, you know rumours and leaking are different. There are rumours he will only sign 2 years, there are rumours he will not sign at all.

The fact is, no body knows. Because, unlike some, we don't leak

What's that got to do with what I said?

Also some of those 15 mids were obtained through the rookie draft and late in the main draft, which is my point.

Wouldn't mind betting the Dog's supporter site is idle tonight as the members are enjoying a drink and talking to each other in a room or bar filled with deliously happy like minded folk. Can't wait until that happens to us.

Amazing that Hamling was a cats reject and now a premiership player and a huge part of why the dogs won, shows smart recruiting can make all the difference.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
