Moore likely Eddie has had a nightmare image of his pension cheque, & is pushing this fast tracked barrow designed to save both their bacons.

The natives are getting restless at Pie land. Not in any big way, but it's bubbling under. Eddie has been there 21 years, no succession plan, directors aren't elected (they are appointed shortly before an AGM and then get "elected" unanimously because it would be unfair to turf them out so soon), directors are yes-man, the handover from Malthouse to Buckley bungled because Eddie panicked, jobs for the boys. Lots more stuff.

It's growing, but wins on the oval can take away a lot of pressure. More losses, on the other hand ...

We have 3 tall defenders, not sure I follow the reasoning behind this one.

I'm with you, but maybe he's seen as a potential target for that ruck/forward gap we have. He's the right size at least.

I don't think Eddie will ever have any concern about his pensions cheque

Not really related to this years off season but Geez the Giants should have taken the offer from Freo for McCarthey last year, they would have netted pick 14 and pick 3 out of it for a guy who might get them a 3rd rounder just a year later.

Agree to an extent. However they made a powerful statement. To any other young gun who wants out, to the rest of the team and the other clubs. They did not blink. Easier to do with the truck load of talent they have, but still. Ill bet he regrets his decision now

Afl trade whisperer (see page 1 of this thread for link) reporting he has good intel freo have offered patton and pick 7 for fyfe. If true surely that means hogan is off the table for freo

Why? when they potentially could have Patton and Hogan.

Don't forget theres another club called West Coast who just as interested as Freo for Hogan.

If you think it's Buckley is making these decisions in isolation you live in la la land.

But hey, I get it's fun to pot Buckley.

I will never forget when Bucks said something like he was leaving Brisbane to play in a premiership team.

That worked out well for him.

Some players deserve a premiership others think they do.

Dont think he will get one as a coach either.

It would be nice for once just once that we get linked to a big name.

Just once is all I ask.

At least it's a Brand name.

I'll see myself out.

This would leave Freo with the ability to offer Dee's pick 3 & 7 for Hogan -  and they'd have a fwd line set up for the next decade with Hogan & Patton.

Would certainly give dees something to think about especially as we could lose him for  nothing in 4 years time if free agency compo is removed as spoken about.

4 years is a long time. I'd prefer to have Jesse for another 4 seasons than 0!

Yes. A lot can happen in 4 seasons.

4 in a row would be just fine.

And it did expose McCarthy and his manager for what they were.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
