Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He signed for some huge amount, i suspect if any club is to take Hamish the Power would still need to foot 50% of the bill, he's simply not worth the big dollars he's on based on current output, i think he has talent and could be worth that if he played at his absolute best consistently but it hasn't happened yet.

Reported last night he was $700K and Port has to clear the cap with a lot of players on high long term deals.

what ridiculous wages!!

sounds like he held them to ransom last year, signed on for 5 years and played a terrible year.

Stay well clear Dees

If that is the case, then I'll be interested to see what the market is for him.  If Port really do need to offload him as they need the cap space, then they might ship him off for a cut price deal to get him off their books if there isn't much interest in him early on.

I'm not saying we should seriously look at getting him in, but if they get desperate then their view of getting a first round pick for him might not come to fruition.

See him as a better version of Sylvia. Constantly teases and looks like he should be a gun but does not deliver consistently. He was putrid in some games this year.

He looks better in a top team but would not help us much at the moment imo.

Something certainly stinks at Port Adelaide.

This whole scenario really cements the rumours about Hartlett and Boak from earlier in the year though. Explains their woeful performances, too.

Could all this mean that he is seriously pi55ed off with them for some reason (other than his huge pay check) and a change of scenery / teammates is all he needs?  Does he hate the coach or someone in the team? Certainly the club would need to do due diligence but our current administration and recruiting teams are very different from yesteryear

The comparison with Sylvia isn't quite there: Col never put together several consecutive top seasons, let alone top games.

There must be an issue with him, he's a bloody talented player and despite having an average year surely considering they signed him for what 5 years they have to back themselves to get him right

trading him just seems weird.

Get the Richmond medics to have a look at him. That's one thing they seem to be able to do........

i can't remember an off-season when there were this many quality mids potentially on the market.  Mitchell, Prestia, O'Meara and Hartlett.  Sure last year quality was higher with Dangerfield and Treloar, but that's 4 decent players - maybe it's the new normal?

I'm keen on Hartlett, he can definitely play and both outside and inside (decent contested, clearance and tackle numbers) - I think he fits our need more than Mitchell or Prestia and is a safer option than O'Meara.  At 26 he's in a good age bracket - we're light on in the 25-28 bracket next year with just Gawn, Melksham, Watts, Jetta, Garlett and Hibberd as regular selections in there.  That bracket will all be there when this group challenge for the flag.

I think we could conjure a deal with Port involving our 2017 1st.

How does trading contracted players work?

If we traded for him, and agreed to pay him say $400k per season, would Port have to pick up the remaining $300k to fufill Hartlett's contract?

Yes Port would have to agree to that. Like when we had to pay to send Woey to the pies....

I don't think $700k is confirmed is it?

Anyway the smaller share we pay, the higher pick we have to give and vice versa.

Would much prefer Prestia or Mitchell than the injury-prone and questionable leadership of HH. He's inconsistent and really isn't a better long term option or even short term option than those two, IMO.

Hartlett: 2012 -15 games, 2013 - 22 games, 2014 - 22 games, 2015 - 22 games, 2016 - 15 games.  Data doesn't support "injury prone".

Wonder what you thought of Bernie before he came across?

In hindsight Stuie is right - we shouldn't be participating in rumour mongering about players private lives. I've deleted all those posts including my own.

Nash, is it OK to talk about Mitch Clark & depression? Is it OK to talk about Scully and his family? Is it OK to talk about Damian Martin and his chopsticks? Is it OK to talk about Paul Roos going to Hawaii?

Spreading rumours and talking about factual public information are different things.

How do we know fact from fiction? Certainly the media are guilty of making things up. How do you know that some posters aren't posting facts?

Let's go with questionable leadership and inconsistent performance then. That's enough for me.

The Port leadership group has question marks over it. What is it that HH will bring that we'd want to give up a 2017 first rounder for?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
