Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He's a freebie- grab him with both hands!

As great as our kids are, they are still kids. Battle hardened and prolific, AFL standard onballer is available; take him.

Get 2 or 3 years out of him and run the risk of losing a good young fella.

We have enough senior onball players.

I think our depth is massively overrated. All things goin well injurywise next year, our best 22 looks fantastic. Some bad luck comes out way, our list drops away quickly.

Barlow is in our top 25 players; insurance, pressure and experience.

He's a mate of a mate. No major injury concerns, wants to keep playing, Freo benched him and other pros to solidify their draft position.

(Sounds bloody familiar to us 8 years ago)

So Lyon wants youth (and to save his job) and he would be in the way.

Don't know which teams 'need' what he is offering but he will be value. Hard not to be as a DFA.

I think there's greater value to be found in further developing our young mids.

Adding Barlow on top of Jones, Lewis, Vince and to a lesser degree Melksham and Hibberd, would be overkill and potentially tip the age profile into 'older' territory.

We have to remember that our youngsters are very talented and we're putting games into them 'together' in order to win flags.

It's a no, from me.

He can play forward too.

If guys like Garlett, Kent, Frost or vandenBerg miss games because of Barlow's inclusion, I highly doubt the future will be any worse off for it.

43 possessions and 2 goals in a tight win (a rare win) over Port Adelaide in round 13 suggests to me he's still got a bit left in the tank.

DFA is a free hit, more appealing than the player available at pick 81.

It would not surprise if there's a club out there that has already lined him up to join them as a DFA. I suppose we'll know next week.

In the meantime, I can't see that it would be Melbourne. We seem to have everyone left on the list contracted so we would have to pay someone out of their existing contract to come into play as the suitor for a DFA. Not sure that's a likely scenario but will stand corrected.

If we can get him for not much and won't have to pay him much or guarantee him games, I don't see why we wouldn't recruit him.

Our inventory of young, talented mids is packed to the rafters - Barlow would add some further quality midfield depth.

Let's capitalise on the fact that Lyon has bent Freo's list way out of shape and that he now needs to move Barlow on a year or two ahead of time.

If Lewis hadnt of come across then it would have been a yes from me but definetely not now. Similar sentiments to previous posts, we've got enough inside mids and need to put games into the youngsters. Another 29 year old on top of a 30 year old will hinder us just as were entering our "premiership window".

He's a great footballer and seemingly ripping bloke but he's too slow to play forward and lacks the skills to do much with the ball.

If he's not in and under the packs then he's just not a quality player.

There's also the matter that as much as we may want him he probably doesn't want to come to us now we've got Lewis. As a Delisted free agent he gets to pick his club and I'd think he'd pick a bottom club that can give him guaranteed game time in the middle or a top club where he can be depth and have a chance to break in for big games.

We can afford to pick up a 30,30 plus experienced player, just for the insurance an can assist the younger players. A ruck/forward would be nice but we may have to pick up that player in the kiddie draft. Also we could do with another defender. We may also pick up another Brayshaw. Decisions, decisions!!!!!!

You are not suggesting Dockers tan ta , I can't even say the word.

Seriously though I am not sure that getting Lewis disqualifies us getting Barlow. He is only 29 and could have 3 good years left.

We still need mature bodies especially late in the season and I note we have 9 x 6 day breaks and will need to rotate players especially mids. He could be very useful more so than a young kid taken late in the draft. We already have a lot of young talent.

We have delisted several depth mids and he is better than all of them and a few injuries could make him extremely valuable.

I would not be against having a long hard look at him. He is also a freebie. If no good he would go in a year or two. Not much to lose.

Quite often there is.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
