Heard Hardwick interviewed a few weeks ago. On Lennon he said that he was a player that he'd like to have played more this year but a succession of injuries had stalled his year.

He's a good size, a good mark & pretty good skills. I think he's well worth chucking our hat into the ring but as others have said, the Tigers are likely to want more than we currently have to deal

Lennon is too much of a tweener for mine.  In that Ricky Petterd half forward mould where he isn't quite quick enough, tall enough or skillful enough.  Does everything well but he doesn't have that point of difference.

Given Hogan refuses to tackle and Weideman is not going to have the agility or pace to tackle, if we're going to look at NQR's I'd prefer one with electrifying pace that will help lock the ball in there.

Ben Lennon is a highly skilled player. I assure you. Which is a major part of why he went at pick 12.

And his pace is good as is his tackling pressure.

If Melbourne supporters are happy to give Salem the benefit of the doubt (myself included), due to injuries and not having a clean run at it, it puzzles me why they don't adopt the same philosophy for similarly highly rated players at opposition club?

Lennon, like Salem, hasn't had a clean run at it and has been at a shocking club in Richmond. Whether we get him or not, I reckon in five years down the track people will recognise that he is a very good player.

Richmond dropped him for the final last year and went with Griffiths and Vickery instead from memory. I reckon that was the start of the falling out between club and player as he'd been in some good form to that point. Hardwick outsmarted himself and the Tiges lost the game.

Lennon looked really good as a kid, he's stalled for some reason. The Tiges certainly could be part of the problem and you seem to be saying injury is another.

If the FD get into him I'm happy with that but just because he was pick 12 and a good player at junior level is not enough for me.

We should know that better than any other supporter group.

Had to check...but yes, we did. Joe Pearce who made his debut in 1904. With some sad irony, given pineapple dee's reference to giving Pearce a chance, Joe died at Gallipoli in 1915.

I'd want to know what Lennon's endurance is like. If he has (or can build) a big tank he could play like Adelaide's Tom Lynch and follow a similar development path. 

If he can't run then I'm not convinced he has the physicality, speed or strength to be all that special a player and even if Richmond's a basket case I'm not a huge fan of players who sign 2 year deals only to them do a dummy spit a year later.

If I were Richmond and the best he's worth now is a mid to late 2nd rounder and he'll be worth a 3rd rounder next year then I'm taking the gamble on keeping him for a year.

I'm concerned he thinks he's a skilful talented player, and doesn't have the desire to work hard enough to make it.

Gee, there is a surprise King!! Hardwick not getting the best out of his players!? That's why he stays and 5 assistants get their marching orders! Go Figure! I agree Hardwick is a very average coach who is extremely fortunate to still have his job! Very Fortunate! 

On Lennon yes He would be a great Pick up! Let Goody do some mind realignment, set him straight, wind him up and .... Whammo!! instant impact with excellent skills!

Plenty of duds have gone at pick 12, as you know Steve.  I haven't seen a lot of him but there's a big difference being 188cm against kids in the TAC, and being 188cm in the AFL where everyone is that height. I'm not sure he has that Stevie J goal sense a medium forward needs, so he strikes me as another Jed Lamb, Taylor Garner, Ricky Petterd type.

He's a nice kick and has had two years in the system so he might be a better pick up than a raw 18 year old with pick 27, but we're not going to have that with Hibberd. Richmond are going to want something early second round and I think we've got far more important needs than a nice, medium tall half forward flanker.  

What do you want to trade for Lennon?
