Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I must admit last Sunday I did start to question the decision, but I'm willing to give him a pass on one bad game and see what he can do this week. Even if he doesn't play well it's not the kind of decision to get overly upset about. We've got plenty of list spots this year with the reality being that we are unlikely to fill them all with quality. If Spencer is on the list next year it's hard to be too upset about Trengove.

we put the kid through hell, making him captain way to early after some good early form and then he had an injury that most thought he'd never make it back from and he did, he's earned one more crack, a full pre season and then it's fair game, he either cements his spot or he leaves knowing he just wasn't quite good enough.

Supposedly there's no sentiment in AFL football, but I think that Trengove has earnt the right to give it a shot. He's still young enough for us to reap the rewards if he can make an impact next year.

But I do agree with Picket when he said the Trengove did look slow on Sunday.

It's interesting if you listened to Jordan Lewis on AFL 360 last night he spoke about how a lot of players at the Hawks and Dogs aren't fast players but they move the ball quickly, i don't think we'll ever see Trenners streaming down the wing having four running bounces, i just don't believe that excludes him from being a good player.

the club would moniter his top speed and clearly they think it can reach an acceptable level

I actually meant slow in mind, not body. Oliver, Salem and Dunn looked a level above with their quickness of decision making. Trengove barely looked VFL standard.

Someone tell me WHY we resigned him recently! He was dreadful today!! Too slow for the modern game. I just do not understand this reasoning?!

He will not improve his pace, Good servant of the club, thrust into Captaincy far too early, but sheeit its a ruthless business, on what basis was he re signed??

Because it is a sign of goodwill after all he has been through with injuries and the burden of captaincy, not hard to understand for most.

Raise your sights PF.  Your sights are too low, & cannot see through the congestion, to 2017 - 2018.

Culture is huge. Trenners and his treatment will go a long way to setting a desired culture IMO.

our treatment of Jnr Mac was an example of hardnosed ruthlessness, how did that work out for us?

I can only assume that the full stop and comma keys are missing from your keyboard?

When every sentence I read ends in exclamation or question mark, I feel like I'm on the Frankston line and some ice fiend has just got on screaming his head off and I just don't listen to the garbage he's yelling.

Jnr Mac was a much better player than Trengove ever was and therefore the comparison is not realistic! But I take your point!

Do you really need to ask the same question every week (or every time your sitting bored at home)??

He's signed. That's won't change.

The football department see something. You don't.

Bump this thread when you have something new to contribute to the discussion; this is just the same old diatribe all over again.

What do we owe him? Maybe the question can also be asked what does he owe us? Maybe we only want to move on a certain number of players this year to go harder at next years so called better draft crop.

We owe each other.  We owe him a decent chance to recover, based on what he sacrificed for us when we called on him.  And based on his character.  His footy smarts, & his work ethic to go beyond.

Great clubs are based around great people.  Trenners is a person you want around your club.

Chill out mate. It's been mentioned a fair few times, but he wasn't expected to get back to AFL level at all this year after his injuries, but he did. That shows you the character of the player. It should also tell you that he had barely any preseason and has very little base to come off due to his injury, so to be judging him off one game at the end of the year is short sighted, particularly given he was fantastic early in the year.

What do you think of Tyson's speed by the way?

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
