God, not Essendon, anyone but Essendon. I would almost give away the game. Drug cheating their way to picking up O'Meara for free.

I wonder whether the Doggies will spoil the party. Interest from GC for Lin Jong. Package him up with a draft pick and swap with O'Mera.  Much better option for the Suns, the doggies and leaves the bombers with sweet fa.

Oh well. Worst case was essedon getting him for free.

The hope now is that Whorethorn over pays, and he never recovers fully from his injuries.

It's sad that it's come to this, but I have to agree. Hawthorn will still end up picking him up for pick ~13-15 or so, which is an absolute bargain if he ever gets healthy.

That was never going to happen, no matter the talk.

Considering their ladder position, would 2 Hawthorn first rounders be enough ? Might need to include a decent player in the deal somehow.

What have they got to offer?

You think the AFL would have intervened?

The AFL wouldn't have intervened in a situation where Essendon potentially get stronger. They want them back in the top 4 ASAP.

That's what I was thinking.

I wonder if this means they're not getting Mitchell?

Oh, who am I kidding? It's [censored] Hawthorn, they get to cherry pick everyone these days.

It wasn't in jest. Not even a little bit.

You are free to think whatever you like.

I will continue to do the same Binny.

If the Suns think he's worth two top 10 picks then i will be very interested to see what the Hawks think they have to give up for him.

The Hawks are going to fall off the cliff next year.. They have zero A grade mids on the list once Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis and Burgoyne retire.

Strange choice for O'Meara.

It's possible that with all of the high quality players retiring soon, that horforn are one of the few current top 8 clubs who can accommodate his contract requests.

Before this news came out, Ox said on SEN this morning that you can "take it to the bank" O'Meara and Tom Mitchell will be at Hawthorn next year.

Future picks?

That, or they are going to be brave and force a couple of their current players out.

No idea. Wouldn't have thought they'd be able to trade enough future picks to get both deals done, plus given they'd still be top 4 after getting those players why would you want their future picks? Somehow it'll get done though because equalization is a sham.

Freo trade Pick 3 to GWS for McCartny & Pick 7

Freo trade Pick 7 to Hawthorn for Hill & Pick 14 or 16 (dependent on if they loose this week or next week)

Hawthorn trade Pick 7 & Langford to Gold Coast for O'Meara

Hawthorn trade 2017 1st Round Pick & Schoenmakers to Sydney for Mitchell plus a 2nd or 3rd Round Pick in either draft.

Sadly I can see it happening.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
