Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd like to think Salem would give more output off half back than Harmes

I don't know how many games you need to play in the VFL to play finals but it's sort of weird to think that the decision about Salem might be influenced by the possibility of Melbourne and Casey both playing finals.

It was a great result after the Port game, because we had quite a few guys who didn't play well, yet managed a big win away.. Got an 8 day break, so no change for this week.

All the guys who were off a little against Port, such as Stretch, Viney, Hogan etc will play well against the blues..

At some stage we need Salem's skill in the team, the only players I can see making way would be Harmes, Bugg or vandenBerg,

Garlett's two goals at the end will keep him in the side (they were incredibly important in the scheme of things) but ANB, JKH and Kennedy are all putting pressure on that small forward position.

I like Pedersen in the team because of the structure he provides and as much as I want Weideman back in (he's pure class) I can't see a change here. Hogan needs to sort himself out. On a side note, why does Hogan always wear a jumper about three sizes too big for him? He must be the easiest player in the team to tackle because of this.

Sadly, any inclusion of Grimes, M. Jones, Dawes, Trengove (maybe), Dunn or Garland would be a step backwards.

In summary, I have no idea which changes should or will be made this week.

I think if you come off a minor injury, then 2-3 weeks at Casey should be enough to build on fitness base and sharpen skills.. This guy from all reports lost 5kg's and had all his energy drained.. He should just continue to build fitness and form at Casey I think.

Good post

If at all possible we should include Salem this week but otherwise no change

No change, unless for soreness or injury.

Need to reward the players for continuing to perform.

Pedo played his role, and thats all we can ask from him. Weids won't crash packs and bring the ball to ground, like pedo does, and we need that to help get Jeffy G and others into the game. Hogan needs a big week this week, looks out of sorts lately and not enjoying his footy much.

Really loving the role Watts is playing now, he has the swagger we always hoped he'd find.

ANB is the one that I am not certain of his position in the team... I think he needs a run of more than 1 or 2 in a row for us to see exactly where he sits at the top level...

Was in good spirits during the warm up... On the boundary giving $hit to Bugg when he was having shots...

I think he offers more than just being a fringe player and I for one hope that he has a ripping pre-season and breaks his way into the side on a more permanent basis...

Clubs need players like ANB to keep others on their toes!

Wasn't it ANB who came back to preseason from the break in less than ideal condition? Or am I mixing him up with someone else?

From memory, the reports stated that about 5-6 players were in this category, so you could be right.. I remember Gartlett was one of them..

Pedo stays in.
Hogan has a good long hard look at himself and realises he hasn't kicked a goal in over a month of footy.
Jeffy would be my only omission and it's a stretch...perhaps bring in BK for him based on form.

Very hard to change a winning formula.
I would love to see Wiedeman in but baring injury I just don't know who we drop for a 1 gamer in what is considered a pressure game considering we are still playing for our season.

Salem and Weed-man would be my ins but as the overwhelming majority have said, it's hard to see who comes out.

Last game of the year at the G and what should be pumped up as a final goodbye to Roos from MFC supporters, it would be fitting to see Hogan and the Weed lining up at CHF and FF. A real sign of the future. Carlton are pretty light on in terms of KP players unlike Geelong and with Weitering a bit sore after the weekend, this would be the game you'd play them in.

Pedo would be mighty stiff if that eventuated however.

And I have no idea who'd come out for Salem. But I always feel safe when the ball is in his hands at the back half of the ground. (As opposed to many of his team-mates).

Whatever the case, it's just a really nice to not see this on paper anymore:

Jeff garlett is on crutches battling a skin infection, so there could be a reasonable chance that he wont lineup this week, meaning ben kenedy would most likely take his place in that small forward role. Wouldn't mind seeing jkh or anb playing the role though, in saying that though if we are battling for finals (which we are atm) this is not the time to be experimenting, therefore we have to play kenedy.

Actually we had a number of poor players. Harmes, VBD, Viney (who was well tagged) and Hogan. Pederson was just serviceable and Watts was well below best. Petracca had little impact as well. Kent only had one tackle and made a couple of huge blunders.

There is a lot of improvement and our side didn't play well IMO. Very happy to win away against a very physical side but I think you are off the money with your comment. I can see Harmes, VDB or Pederson making way.

agree to disagree.   those guys didnt star but weren't lacking effort.

Pedos presence and contest in the air was good - its important to have a big, seasoned body in the fwd line.

Harmes and VDB played their role and have some runs on the board as far as their application to the contest goes. VDB 6 tackles, 5 score involvement, 2 assists did okay IMO and Harmes was good last week.

I agree with the effort. They all tried hard for four quarters.

But they did play poorly. VDB worries me. Had one really good game against Gold Coast and a number of poor ones. Harmes also did well against Hawthorn but has had anumber of poor ones. Kent had some shocking turnovers but was involved in a lot of play

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
